Palestinian Ousting?

Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the focus has shifted from targeting the militant group to a broader crisis, raising serious concerns about the welfare of the Palestinian population in Gaza.

The military efforts, originally aimed at rooting out Hamas, have resulted in significant destruction, leaving around 2.2 million Palestinians potentially homeless. Israel's mission to destroy Hamas tunnels is expected to take months, contributing to widespread urban devastation.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed regret over the Security Council's failure to demand a ceasefire, citing divisions that hindered a collective response. He warned of a severe risk of a collapse in the humanitarian system, emphasizing the irreversible implications for Palestinians and regional peace.

In a move that drew criticism, the United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution for an immediate ceasefire, citing concerns about Hamas and the resolution's rushed nature. The UAE, which sponsored the resolution, expressed deep disappointment, while critics argue that Security Council inaction makes it "complicit" in the ongoing crisis.

Casualty figures remain conflicting, with estimates suggesting thousands dead, predominantly women and children, amid relentless attacks by both sides. Organizations like Medecins Sans Frontiers have accused the Security Council of being complicit, emphasizing the duty to protect civilians under international humanitarian law.The conflict has evolved into a complex humanitarian crisis, with urgent concerns about the welfare of the Palestinian population.

And despite me initially supporting Israel I find it hard to keep on doing it because now I am seeing not an act of a response to an attack but a plan to eradicate the Palestinians.

Everyone will have their own opinions on this and I am in the other camp as Israel has to eliminate Hamas and with Hamas being embedded in the population they have to do what they have to do. unfortunately Hamas does not care about the people and uses them to shield their activities. Hopefully this will be over soon and then this can be sorted out as this cannot continue as is as more people will lose their lives if this is not resolved.

Yes I also hope that this ends really soon and Hamas gets wiped out completely, at least after all that this has to be achieved.

This is why it needs to be finished off properly as without that ending then this has been all for nothing with nothing being changed and the people in Gaza are in the same position. Hamas is that bad with them manipulating the situation and never expected this to continue and it must.

Thank you for speaking so plainly about what is clearly a humanitarian crisis. The U.S. (my country) is complicit and it breaks my heart. There has to be a way to express support for an ally without giving it carte blanche to decimate a people.
