The Dark Pictures Anthology Games

As its name suggests, it is a series of independent games (episodes) where each time the player successively takes control of one of the 5 protagonists of the episode. As the player progresses the story, he is asked to make decisions that will be decisive for the end of the episode. In addition to the dilemmas that will be faced, you will also encounter Quick-Time Events ( QTE ) where you will need to press some buttons to avoid some danger. The games also feature multiplayer so you can make decisions as a team...and god help. 5 protagonists start, but will all 5 be saved in the end? The company has used face-capture technology and in each episode, a celebrity participates.
The company has announced that the anthology will include 8 games. The 4 of the first season have already been released (2019 - 2022) and each game is based on a different horror category (psychological, more action, etc.). In summary, we have:

  • Man Of Medan: It's about a group of 4 students and a captain of a small ship who go somewhere in the South Pacific to find the remains of a WWII plane but somehow end up on a ghost ship.

  • Little Hope: 4 students and 1 teacher on a bus trip are forced to take a detour. The driver loses control and they crash. When they regain consciousness, they find themselves in the city of Little Hope where they try to escape but come condemned to relive the history of the city,

    • House Of Ashes: During an invasion of the American soldiers in Iraq, 4 Americans and an Iraqi soldier fall inside an ancient temple. Not only must they escape but also face the creatures that inhabit the temple.

  • The Devil In Me: The episode is based on the story of H.H. Holmes. 5 members of a documentary crew are invited to film an episode in a replica Holmes hotel. Only during the filming, they will find that their lives are indeed in danger.

I only ever played House of Ashes and found it reasonably entertaining even though I don't think you can ever actually lose. No matter what you do the story progresses in everything that I did. It was still fun though and it served a purpose. I was thinking of trying one of the other ones before too long because I think most or all of them are available as part of the PS-Plus Extra membership.
