Sonic Groove Live 28 - Hands off my Steem (Original song)

The Sonic Groove Live contest took a little break due to the uncertainty over the future of Steem, but it is back this week. I was going to do a cover, but @sonicgroovelive and @krystle said they would like to hear some songs about what is going on with Steem, so I just wrote this little song. I did my usual three chord thing on the ukulele, so it is not setting any new musical standards.

I played it on the uke that travelled with me to two Steemfests. At SF3 it got signed by a load of cool people.

I’ve been on Steem for many a year
We’ve got a nice community here
It’s not perfect, but it’s getting there
Everyone has the chance of a share
Then Ned sold Steemit to a guy from the east
Name of Justin he’s a bit of a beast
He’s used to having full control
But that’s not how we roll

So hands off my Steem
It’s not yours to take
You could be a good leader
Or a bit of a snake
Do you care about freedom
Or just want the money
To destroy this thing
Just wouldn’t be funny

So Justin come in talking about Tron
And the witnesses smelled something wrong
They had fears that he’d do something bad
So took measures that made him sad
But Justin was clever and got some an assist
To push the witnesses off the list
It was starting to look like a very bad trend
Could this be the end?

Then came a chance to make it alright
The exchanges who helped him saw the light
We got our witnesses back up the chart
That must have given Justin a bit of a start
Now it could still go either way
But the people of Steem have had their say
We have shown that we care for what’s right
We won’t give up without a fight

Nice job! Very catchy and some funny lyrics :) Isn't it funny that a month ago what as going to happen with Steem was our biggest concern. I hope that we can keep attention on this in light of the global issues that are happening. Sadly, the Covid crisis could play right into Sun's hands.
