The p-v plan
The p-v plane, i.e. the pressure - volume plane, is also called the Clapeyron plane.
On the Clapeyron plane it is a Cartesian plane with orthoginal axes in which the volume value appears on the abscissa and the pressure value on the ordinate.
Below we will see two examples of the p-v plane
Isobaric transformation
Recall that an isobaric transformation is a thermodynamic transformation that occurs at constant pressure.
Let's imagine we have a container that contains a gas. A piston will move down until the volume of gas is halved.
In this case the gas is cooled slowly at constant pressure, therefore the piston is lowered. So we will have that pi = pf (initial pressure is equal to final pressure)
From the graph we can see that, by decreasing the temperature, while the pressure remains constant, the volume decreases.
We can therefore state that in an isobaric transformation on the Clapeyron plane it is represented by a straight line parallel to the abscissae (The horizontal line, x, is called the abscissa axis.)
Isochoric transformation
An isochoric transformation is a thermodynamic transformation at constant volume.
The graph will be very simple
in this case some work is done on the system
We can therefore state that an isochoric transformation on the Clapeyron plane is represented by a line parallel to the ordinates (The vertical line, y, is called the ordinate axis).
Conclusions
On the Claperyon plane, both the isobaric and isochorical transformations are represented as straight lines, but the isobars are a horizontal straight line, while the isochorical ones are represented by a vertical straight line.

In your opinion, is the concept of isobaric or isochoric transformation simpler?
06-01-2024 - Fisica - Il piano p-v[EN]-[IT]
THE END
Physics seem to be one of the hardest subjects ever, lol
I can see that you really know about it
Also in my opinion the physicist is a person who enjoys a lot of respect in the field of culture
Secondo me sono complicati tutti e due. 😂😂😂😂 !BEER

.Physics is always interesting to read and understand for me
And then let's get into the habit of talking about it a little. The pressure-volume graph explains the most important thermodynamic transformations well
I am trying to remember the pv chart and I realise I have so much missed physics
The p-V (pressure, volume) plane is also called the Clapeyron plane. Its use is very frequent in many fields of physics, mechanics and thermodynamics
