Palazzo Te - Mantova (Italy)-[EN]-[IT]

Palazzo Te is a Renaissance palace that was built from 1524 to 1534.
This palace was built at the behest of Federico II Gonzaga. He was the fifth marquis of Mantua.

Palazzo Te è un palazzo rinascimentale che fu costruito dal 1524 al 1534.
Questo Palazzo fu costruito per volontà di Federico II Gonzaga. Egli fu il quinto marchese di Mantova

The rooms of the palace were painted by Giulio Romano, a pupil of Raphael. The rooms inside are masterpieces of art and deserve to be visited one by one. As written before, the walls and every corner of these rooms are masterpieces painted by Giulio Romano, who was not only an artist, but was also one of the greatest exponents of Italian architecture in the 1500s.

Le stanze del palazzo furono dipinte da Giulio Romano, un allievo di Raffaello. Le stanze interne sono capolavori d’arte e meritano di essere visitate una ad una. Come scritto prima, le mura ed ogni angolo di queste stanze sono capolavori dipinti da Giulio Romano, che non fu solo un artista, ma fu anche uno dei maggiori esponenti dell'architettura italiana del 1500.

Emperor Charles V visited this palace around 1530. At that time the emperor gave Federico II Gonzaga the title of the first duke of Mantua.

L’imperatore Carlo V visitò questo palazzo intorno al 1530. In quel periodo l’imperatore diede a Federico II Gonzaga il titolo di primo duca di Mantova.

This palace is a square building and in the center has a large garden that is also square in shape. The form is that of the ancient Roman domus where rooms are built around a central courtyard.
Notes on the Roman domus. The domus was a type of dwelling used in ancient Rome in which there was a garden in the center of the dwelling. It appears that the first domus were built around the middle of the 8th century BC by early Roman kings and aristocrats.

Questo palazzo è un edificio a pianta quadrata e nel centro ha un ampio giardino anch’esso di forma quadrata. La forma è quella dell’antica domus romana dove gli ambienti sono costruiti attorno a un cortile centrale.
Note sulla domus romana. La domus era un tipologia di abitazione utilizzata nell'antica Roma in cui era presente un giardino al centro dell’abitazione. Sembra che le prime domus siano state costruite intorno alla metà dell'VIII secolo a.C. dai primi re e aristocratici romani.

Giulio Romano is the key figure in this palace. He elaborated the architecture and decorations of every room. In this construction he unleashed his artistic and design skills by creating invention upon invention.

-The Apartment of Representation
-The apartment of the Secret Garden

Giulio Romano è la figura chiave di questo palazzo. Egli elaboró l'architettura e le decorazioni di ogni ambiente. In questa costruzione liberó le sue capacità artistiche e progettuali creando invenzioni su invenzioni.

Visiting Palazzo Te takes about 3 hours. With a guided tour it is better as you can better learn all the details that are present in the palace and its wonderful rooms.

Per visitare Palazzo Te ci vogliono circa 3 ore. Con una visita guidata è meglio in quanto si riescono ad apprendere meglio tutti i dettagli che sono presenti nel palazzo e nelle sue meravigliose stanze.

The Palazzo Te was designed for the entertainment and receptions of the Gonzaga Court and was built at the behest of Duke Federico II Gonzaga. An excellent architectural work of 1525 well preserved until now and a tourist destination.

Il Palazzo Te fu progettato per lo svago ed i ricevimenti di Corte Gonzaga e fu costruito per volontà del duca Federico II Gonzaga. Un eccellente lavoro architettonico del 1525 ben conservato fino ad ora e meta turistica.
