Haciendo un sobre estilo vintage 💌//Making a vintage-style envelope 💌(Esp-Eng)

Hello, fellow crafting enthusiasts! Today I want to show you a simple, step-by-step way to make an envelope, adding a vintage touch with some printed labels left over from decorating my sketchbook. You don't need many materials for this project; in fact, the style of envelope I'm showing you doesn't even require glue—just paper or cardstock (I used brown cardstock). I did use glue for the decoration, which is optional, though the result is definitely better with it. This envelope is versatile: you can use it for letters, for holding money, or—as I’m planning to do—as a small pouch for handmade jewelry. Best of all, you can make it using recycled paper, like pages from a magazine, giving it a more creative, handcrafted feel. The folding technique is similar to origami—the art of paper folding—where beautiful shapes are created without the need for glue. I invite you to follow along with the steps and see the final result! 😁✨ I’m sure you’ll find this a great idea.
Materiales/Materials

- Una hoja de cartulina marrón
- Tijeras
- Regla
- Etiquetas impresas
- Pega en barra
- A sheet of brown cardstock
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Printed labels
- Glue stick
Paso a paso
Step by step

Paso 1/Step 1
To start, I took a sheet of brown cardstock—a dark brown—that was the same size as a standard sheet of paper. I began by folding the cardstock diagonally to form a triangle; this allowed me to identify the excess material and trim it off, leaving me with a square.

Paso 2/Step 2
After initially folding the cardstock, I repeated the process to form a cross shape, which served as a guide for the subsequent steps. I folded the sides toward the center line so they resembled two arrows, and then folded the bottom section toward the center line to form another arrow—using a ruler to assist with this part. It is important that the folds align as precisely as possible with the center.

Paso 3/Step 3
For this step—which I feel was the trickiest—I unfolded the bottom section and then folded it again, but this time I only folded the tip up to the crease line created by the previous fold; then, I folded the sides in to meet that same line. This part is crucial because it is exactly where the envelope holds itself shut.

Paso 4/Step 4
Then unfold it, and fold it again—but this time with the sides folded inward—so that the section looks folded and forms an arrow shape at the top. Next, fold up the bottom part of the envelope to close it; the arrow-shaped section and the folds allow the side flaps to tuck into the folded area, with the arrow tip folding inside the envelope, thereby sealing it securely without the need for glue.

Paso 5/Step 5
And so the envelope was ready; I also wanted to tuck the flap at the top of the envelope inward, because I wanted it to be more securely closed.
Resultado final
Botton line

So, what did you think of the envelope? To be honest, it was a bit tricky to explain, so I hope you were able to follow along. Finally, I added some vintage-style tags—what would you have used? I hope you enjoyed it, and I'll see you in the next post! 👋✨
