Book Cabinet Renovation | Furniture Painting

How are you? I am very well! These days, I am making minor changes in home decorations. I bought a second hand book cabinet after I moved here before. Before I bought it, I had Ikea Billy model bookshelves in mind, but I gave up because they were expensive. I went to a second-hand furniture store near my house and found this cabinet there. I thought I'd paint it in the future and make it like new. I continued to use it this way for a while without painting it because there was no problem anywhere. Later I got bored with its dark color and painted it.

Nasılsınız? Ben çok iyiyim! Bu aralar ev dekorasyonlarında ufak tefek değişiklikler yapıyorum. Daha önce buraya taşındıktan sonra ikinci elden kitap dolabı satın aldım. Almadan önce aklımda İkea Billy model kitaplıklar vardı ama onlar pahalı olduğu için vazgeçtim. Evimin yakınlarında ki ikinci el mobilya satan bir dükkana gittim ve orada bu dolabı buldum. İleride onu boyayarak yeni gibi yapacağımı düşündüm. Bir süre boyamadan bu şekilde kullanmaya devam ettim çünkü hiç bir yerinde sorun yoktu. Daha sonra koyu renginden dolayı sıkıldım ve onu boyadım.
Then I painted it with the Crimson color of the Cadence brand. I used a total of 1.5 liters of paint. This is the first time I've painted furniture this big, so of course I had some difficulties. Still, I was quite satisfied with the result. The only problem is that as time goes on, the chapters I put in the book seem confused to me. Actually, I wanted to paint the inside with a light color and decoupage with patterns on it, but when I couldn't find a pattern to my mind, I painted it completely red. Now I have decided to make the interior light color. Recently, while I was painting the soda storage box, 1.5 boxes of white paint increased, so I thought I would evaluate it that way.
Ardından onu Cadence markasının Crimson rengi ile boyadım. Toplam 1,5 litre boya kullandım. İlk defa bu kadar büyük mobilya boyamıştım bu yüzden biraz zorluklar yaşadım tabi ki. Yine de sonuçtan oldukça memnun kalmıştım. Tek sorun zaman geçtikçe kitap koyduğum bölümlerin gözüme karışık gelmesi. Aslında içini açık renk ile boyamak ve üzerine desenlerle dekupaj yapmak istiyordum ama kafama göre desen bulamayınca komple kırmızıya boyadım. Şimdi ise artık iç kısmının açık renk olmasına karar verdim. Geçenlerde soğa depolama kutusunu boyarken 1,5 kutu beyaz renk boya arttı bende onu bu şekilde değerlendiririm diye düşündüm.
First of all, I emptied the books and cleaned the inside of the cabinet well. Before painting, dust must be thoroughly removed because the surface becomes rough when painting.
Öncelikle kitapları boşalttım ve dolabın iç kısmını güzelce temizledim. Boyamadan önce tozların iyice alınması lazım çünkü boyarken yüzey pürüzlü olur.
I preferred a sponge roller brush for ease of painting. Since the roller brush did not reach the edges, of course, I painted the edges and corners of the cabinet with a bristle brush before painting. Thus, it would provide me convenience during painting. After applying the first primer, I waited 6-8 hours for it to dry.
Boyarken kolaylık sağlaması için sünger rulo fırça tercih ettim. Rulo fırça kenarlara ulaşmadığı için tabi ki boyamadan önce dolabın kenar ve köşeleri kıl fırça ile boyadım. Böylece boyama sırasında bana kolaylık sağlayacaktı. İlk astarını attıktan sonra kuruması için 6-8 saat bekledim.
After the paint dried, I applied the second coat and waited for the paint to dry for 6-8 hours again. Waiting is very important for the result to be good.
Boya kuruduktan sonra ikinci katı uyguladım ve tekrar 6-8 saat arası boyanın kurumasını bekledim. Beklemek sonucun güzel olması için oldukça önemli.
Finally, I moved on to the varnishing stage. I applied semi-matt varnish!
Son olarak vernikleme aşamasına geçtim. Yarı mat vernik uyguladım!
I was left with led fairy lights from New Year's, and I could not evaluate them at all. I thought it would be nice to use it in the interior of the bookshelf.
Yılbaşından elimde led peri ışıkları kalmıştı onları hiç değerlendirememiştim. Kitaplığın iç kısmında kullanmanın güzel olacağını düşündüm.
I passed the led light through the hinge part of the cabinet and looped it to the other side. I laid it in the cabinet in the form of a frame.
Dolabın menteşe kısmından led ışığı geçirdim ve diğer tarafa doğru doladım. Çerçeve şeklinde dolaba döşedim.
And when I turned on the light, the result was amazing!
Ve ışığı yaktığımda sonuç muhteşemdi!
I've already placed some of the books after the varnish has dried! I really liked the result.
Vernik kuruduktan sonra kitapların bir kısmını yerleştirdim bile! Ben sonucu çok beğendim.

By the way, the paint wasn't enough for the upper base, but I didn't mind because I didn't think it would look too much. Canim ben de çok korkuyorum ne yalan söyleyeyim alttan destekliyorum kitapları yatay şeklinde o zaman rahat oluyor. Ortadakiler destek icin ama ileride marangoza raf kestirmeyi düşünüyorum. I like how it came out. The led lights really add up some warmth to the cabinet. I wonder if I am the only one who zoomed in to see what books you have lol. Hawking and Ikigai next to russian authors. You have good taste
I think it is a very beautiful and special dog. If I have a house with a garden in the future, I want to adopt dogs that no one wants to own. So I can be a warm home for them 🥰
