No more work office....

My office lease is currently up for renewal.

And I'm not sure whether I'm going to go ahead and renew it...

Approx 5 years ago, when I took on the office, it felt like a necessity. To look professional.

I'd been working from home for the first 4 or so years of my business but as Zoom calls etc started to become more prevalent (even before covid), I felt a bit amateur with my home office background. Especially when everyone else seemed to be based in sleek corporate offices.

Now I struggle to think of the last time I did a virtual meeting with anyone in an office. I seem to be the only one! It's a complete 180!

The other factor that pushed me into taking on an office was that our Internet speed at home was abysmal. Now, thanks to Starlink, my home speed is faster than in the office.

So the factors against renewing my lease are starting to stack up in favour of saying no. And going back to my home office.

Plus, I worked from home today and this allowed me to squeeze in an extra walk in the fresh air with my dogs. Something I can't do when I'm in the office.

I think my decision is made!

It's cool to be working from home now, a lot more people do it after COVID. If you want a more professional look for videos calls, I heard you can rent or buy old books for your bookcase behind you. Apparently a lot of professionals were doing that when they had to do interviews at home during covid.

By the way,is Starlink a lot faster than even fibre?

And just FYI, we have a WorkLife Community https://peakd.com/c/hive-195880/created. It's not very active at the moment as I don't have enough time 😬

Top tips re the office look.

Starlink is comparable with fibre - problem for me was that fibre was not available at my home. Just ADSL so around 2mb. With starlink I can get up to 200mb!

You are right, when corona did come here, we also started working from home, so the work was done in a better way and in peace. But after all this is over, we have to go back to the office and work.
