Fall is here!
Fall has arrived in Vermont! Gorgeous hike yesterday up to Abbey Pond. Perfect weather 65F. Overcast but we avoided the rain to the south of us.
Abby Pond is our favorite Fall colors hike. We have made the hike the last five year right around this time. More on the hike after I have had some time to work through the photos. I was excited to share a few of the best photos today.
The east shore of the pond has a nice number of maples that deliver a fall color show. The maples deliver the reds. Beech trees and birch trees and aspen all turn yellow.
The pond is often still and smooth providing reflections although a little more sun would have helped the reflections this year.
The view south from the pond is Robert Frost Mountain very appropriately Vermont. Prior to 1953 it was just called South Mountain. How boring is that?
Awesome colours! We're still having late summer in Portugal. Won't complain since I love hot weather. Not a sight of Autumn colours here so far!
Thanks. We worked hard for these colors 😅 2.5 hour hike (roundtrip) and 1292 foot climb. The colors are only on the higher elevations in Vermont right now.
Sounds like a decent reward for a good effort!

Autumn in New England is the most beautiful place to be.
One of my favorite Robert Frost poems 🙂 I agree it is a wonderful place to see fall in all its glory. I really missed the changing of the seasons when I lived in California.
It's one of of the poems I memorized. I'm glad he has a mountain named after him!
