FINALLY, A PRIME LENS - A New Addition to the Inventory

I guess you could say my birthday gift came early, haha or Christmas came early for me. One of my favorite quotes of all time is "trust the process". I looks simple and ordinary, but with a bit more thought, you'd really see the wisdom in it. Almost a year ago, I started saving my hive earnings. Hive has being source of joy for me, because it as served as the side income means that always come in handy. Countless times hive has saved me. Ah, enough of that. I started my photography from using a smartphone, to using the first Nikon entry level DSLR (NikonD3000) which I got then for around $80, to upgrading a step higher. I have the mindset that I'd grow my way up to the level I want one at a time and I'm not taking my foot of the pedal anytime soon. Photography is what I love. Three days I got out 109 HBD to get the Prime lens I've so longed for. I take a lot of portraits, so you'd expect I have a prime lens but, NO, I don't. It is an expensive lens, and I've not being able to afford it. Until now that is. A few days back, I saw an ad for a used Nikorr 50mm 1.8g prime lens for $206. I only had 120 HBD in savings and I knew I had to somehow get it, because apart from the fact that such deals don't come by often, I would also be going back to the Seminary so I won't be able to get it.

I also added that beautiful SD also. I got the 16 gigabyte SD card for $10. It was more of an addition after begging so much for a discount on the camera. I've used a couple of cheaper SD cards and I have had my fair share of the "files corrupted" nightmare so this was a great addition to my bag.

Some PROs of my new Gear

  • It is a super fast camera - well, maybe not superfast but it the focusing was quick and it felt so reliveing for me.

  • Awesome bokeh - The depth of field is soooooo satisfying. One can overdo it though, but I intend to use my creative mind with it.

  • It is brilliant in low light - boooooy, this is a big plus for me. I have shot in some low light scenerios and I've taken some bad shots, but this works so better in at night. With a wider apertuy, more light goes in.

  • The photos are super sharp - okay maybe not 'super' but meeeen, it is sharp. This is the best part for me.

I took a couple of photos of my brother and a kids with my new 50mm prime lens. Check out the result below.

Nevermind the colorgrading, just appreciate that beautiful bokeh and that sharp and detailed photo. 😍
I shot all these at f/1.8. I can't wait to get out there and make magic. 🪄 ✨

Thank you for reading.

Cheers

Congratulations bro, Nice lens. Hopefully you'll achieve the levels you're aiming for sooner rather than later. Enjoy the process though.

A 50mm prime is a great upgrade lens and a brilliant all-rounder. I still have mine that I bought a loooooooong time ago and still use it a lot. In fact I used it just today.
Enjoy.
