SMARTPHONE PHOTOGRAPHY (just another day at the office)

You know what is beautiful, life. life is beautiful. The earth, the sun, the sky, clouds and stars and all that stuff therein. Just like every other human in the world, I enjoy taking a walk, star gazing, etc. I got the opportunity to take a few shots today and it was pretty nice.

I got around tweaking my phone camera settings to try an achieve my desired shot. I made a post previously about making changes to your camera settings like a typical digital camera. I also mentioned using the lightroom app because it offers you this option so, lets see.

So there was this water tank which water was been pumped into and it was filled up, so the water started to overflow and splash all around. I thought it'd be cool to take a photo of the splash of water in motion. So by now you should know that to capture motion you need a very fast shutter speed. This makes you capture a perfect motion without a "motion blur", without blur in ordinary terms. This is what a digital camera offers you, but then I suggested using the Lightroom in-app camera because it affords you this options. Below are the settings I used.

Aperturef/1.8
Shutter speed1/6400
ISO1600

If you noticed, the ISO was very high. For those who don't know, It compensate for the very high shutter speed so that the image is not under-exposed, i.e very dark, but I risked having a grainy photo. You also see how wide open the aperture is to allow more light in, for the same purpose.

It was evening, and like every other evening, the sun sets. I wasn't very close to it so had to take a more farther and wider. The palm trees too were just perfect for the frame. The blue and clear skies were perfect.

Aperturef/1.8
shutter speed1400
ISO113

The above setting buttress my point nicely. Notice the IS0 is very low even with a fast shutter. Thats exactly because I Want the image to be dark, a sort of silhouette type of thing

Once again, for anyone who would love to take their smartphone photography to another level, a sort of DSLR level, then I suggest getting the Lightroom app and using the in-app camera to get that digital camera feel. Thank you for visiting my blog and reading my post.
