A Nation Unhappy on its Presidential Inauguration Day: What the Tides Say

.

Today is a sad day in my country, it shouldn't be.

I am from Nigeria, today is 29th May 2023, it is the day we swear in a new President, the country should be up in shouts of joy, in celebration but it isn't.

In fact it is in gloom, gloom never as we have had it before.
This is because today, like many years ago when some select elite sat down and made us a pseudo constitution, when they claimed that "We the People" agreed to have that constitution, we are being cheated of our rights and voices again.

So We the People are silent, in gloom, in fear for what happens to us for the next four years. We are unsure what the Judiciary will do with our only hope to get justice... They say the Judiciary is the last hope of the common man, we do not hope on it anymore...for many a times it has failed us. Bought, packaged and sealed justice had been delivered many times and it wasn't what the Common man wanted when it was opened.

We are not silent because we cannot speak up, because we are cowards, or indifferent, we are silent because our very lives have been threatened, no, taken, once when we dared speak up to these Select few who hold all whims and Caprices in my Country.
When a President elected by the people is being inaugurated, this is not a country feels, this is a graveyard, the tides are too clear, too loud, but no one hears us... No one comes to our rescue.
Today we watch, in pain as a Selected President gets imposed on us, in the claim that "We the People" voted him.

May Tomorrow be better.

It is a most erroneous claim to state that the president is being imposed on you bcos your preferred candidate lost. Today is just another day in our democracy, no big deal. You don't have to like it or acknowledge it. When the court gives its verdict on all pending cases, it will still be just another day in our democracy, whether your preferred candidate loses or win. Believe it or not, a section of Nigerians chose Tinubu, a section chose Atiku and a section chose Peter Obi, so don't day the people like we all made one choice.
