Three Tune Tuesday and and a ticket to ride to?

Introduction

@ablaze has been doing 3 tune Tuesday for quite a while and we love the idea of it and some of the posts @stickupmusic has been doing it but I though I would join in too. it is a great way to listen to new music which is always something we want to do!

Our picks

This week we are all about the Beatles. They need no introduction as they are the biggest band in the world ever. I picked the Beatles as I have been thinking about musical roots. No matter what is going on I can always go back to the Beatles and feel at home. It has been nice over the last few years that Mini SUB has been loving them as well and we went to see a Beatles tribute band and all had a good sing a long! However this is not easy to pick 3 songs by the Beatles as 3 is not enough....

Song 1

So lets start early with Ticket to Ride. It is like classic Beatles. The riff is instantly recognisable, the harmonies are spot on and Ringo is at his simple and greatly unrelated best!

Song 2

OK so lets go to the lesser known song Flying. It is simple and cool off the Magical Mystery tour album. I swear this is the start of the lof-fi genre....this is a prime example of how George Martin produced and how they used heavy panning in all their mixes. It is also catchy as hell.

Song 3

OK to me this is a greatness of how good they are at writing songs! This in terms of chord progression, lyrics, harmony and all around production is a masterpiece. I cant say how many times I have listened to it but it is awesome.

This was the hardest of weeks to pick the Beatles for me. I am looking at my three picks and I am not sure I am satisfied. Can we do 50 Tune tuesday just so we can do legends like the Beatles with such a rich library of music?
