5 Minute Freewrite: fruit fly

Oh good, the google timer is back. I first wrote fruite in the title. Sounds French. I never learned French. Fruit fly. Fruit fly. They come so easily around the compost, even though we keep the compost in enclosed old yogurt containers. I suppose they come from somewhere else but somehow find their way near the compost. I dunno. They're not so bad right now, and they haven't been plaguing any of my plants lately. The grossest fly issue we've had recently have been the ones that have congregated and bred inside the litter genie for one my mom's cats. But she took the whole thing apart and disinfected it and it seems ok now.

Lochlan has been sick. I just noticed a Whatsapp notification that I presume is from our doctor friend who thankfully is always willing to listen to our worries and tell us if we need to take further action (like ER) or wait for the regular doctor. Lochlan has been sick for like ten days, but has been off and on running a fever since last Wednesday. Friday it got up to 103.5 and we actually did go to the ER then, but wound up leaving after waiting 5 hours and he no longer had a fever and was just sleeping on my lap. They said it would have been a minimum of three hours more and it didn't seem like an emergency anymore. I get that the ER is a busy place but this seems like somewhat of a downside of living in such a highly populated city. Anyway, his fever hasn't gotten that high again, and he was even without a fever at all for most of the day today, but the fever came back around 3:30pm and he's basically been sleeping since 4pm, and I am just SICK of him being sick, and spending so much time worrying. Man. Preschool. He had just gotten over the previous cold when he came down with a new one. At least he was well for his birthday. Oh. I accidentally paused the timer right after starting it before, but I would guess, based on my current word count, that five minutes have passed. Oh! I can check when the Whatsapp notification came in. Yep. Five minutes ago.
