RE: Designing a military city, Williamstown Australia

Wow, a historic city of epic military proportions! I could simply imagine how the navy defended those ports against invading foes during the old days. Must have been a tough job being a sailor back then, right? If it were not for those naval fortifications, I bet Williamstown would not have survived to be the architectural marvel it is today. Interesting tale @melbourneswest. Cheers!

It's a beautiful former city now Suburb of Melbourne which is a 15 minute drive down the road. But I guess in those days a few kms would have felt like world's away.

Interesting fact is that Williamstown was once an affordable suburb to live in. When I was a kid you could pick up a bay view house for $AUD300,000 compared to other working suburbs that ranged between $AUD90,000 - $AUD200,000 it was achievable.

Now these bayside homes go for $2million+

Once lockdown ends I'll head back over and take some pictures.

That's simply interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if real estate prices in Williamstown would surge even further. It's fortunate for the early buyers to secure properties while the market was still affordable. Looking forward to experiencing more amazing photos of that neighborhood. Best!
