Mexican Murals - Exotic Patterns in La Roma [CCC's Street Art Contest #133]

I'm sure you have heard of La Roma neighborhood of Mexico City. Personally, I like to refer to it (along with its neighboring Condesa) as Hipster Central for being dotted with yoga studios and organic cafés. With so many manbuns and earlobe disks, you could rightfully assume that it would be covered with impressive street art too. Though, as I like to repeat, in Mexico you don't need to go to the Roma to see cool murals, this is exactly what we did with my most recent guests. On the way we came across many things I kinda expected, but also stuff I didn't. Such as this piece:

There are not many words needed to describe the gorgeous design of flowering plants on the black background. It sort of reminds me of a certain style of embroidery from a region of Oaxaca, that makes itss bright colors come to shine in the same way on the black fabric.

The exact location is the corner of Quéretaro and Orizaba streets, and the artist's name is prominently featured on the hair of one the two human characters of the image: Santiago Savi, who apparently has been quite busy making murals, so check out his page to see more!

This post is my entry to CCC's Street Art Contest #133 this week. Visit the site to see many awesome murals from around the world, or submit your own for a chance to win in their weekly competition. To see more amazing murals I posted from Mexico, take a look at my Mexican Murals collection. Next week I'll be presenting the other side of the same corner, which also has another spectacular mural.

Hello @stortebeker !

I also live in Mexico, but all I know of Mexico City is the airport. ( It is not beautiful.);)
The graffiti, on the other hand, very. It is so colorful and friendly. Just like the Mexican people.
I wish you good luck with the Street Art Contest! You have my vote. @missagora

Thank you so much, @missagora ! Which part of Mexico do you live in? Are there lots of beautiful murals too? (I'm sure there are.)

I live on the Pacific side. In Gurrero. Oh yes, many houses and walls are already painted here. 3 weeks ago I also participated in the contest: Check it out!

Sweet! I love the bug! I'm a bit surprised that I didn't see it. Goes to show how much escapes our spectrum.

The painted beetle was really a great idea. With the car you are the eye-catcher on the road. That's for sure.😃
