Mexican Murals - Magic Reading in the Condesa [CCC's Street Art Contest #181]

With its park-like avenues and beautiful old architecture, the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City offer a pleasant place to go for walks. It is here that I spotted a wall painting that turned out to be more interesting as I took a closer look. According to the date it is close to becoming three years old, and while the colors are clearly fading a bit, it has not been vandalized by any tags. Respect for that! Its exact location is Antonio Sola street, between Ave Mazatlan and Cuernavaca streets.

It is the image of a reading woman. She's wearing white chucks and a skin-tight body suit, painted with an elaborate floral design. At a closer observation it becomes obvious that this 'suit' would cover her hands, and in fact her face as well, which is quite unlikely. In other words, she is completely nude, except for her sneakers, and her whole body is covered in tattoos of this elaborate floral pattern. What also adds to her interesting appearance, are her long blond braids, widing their way back and forth across the mural, looking like ropes.

The book she is reading is titled Unidos Todos Somos Heroes meaning United We Are All Heroes. In the top left corner you can see what I assume is the title of the picture, Lectura Magica or Magic Reading. Above the reader's head the two artists are mentioned, MadinMX and AlejandroPinpon with the year 2021 it was created in. On the top left side it says with love everything is better.

Nice wall. There's a naked woman and I notice the superdog with his cape. Not normal 😂 Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Enjoy your week
