One Year of LPUDs - Looking Back and Looking Forward

Has it been really this long? Apparently so! Last year on May 15th I participated in my first Leo Power Up Day, and ever since then I conscientiously staked at least 200 of my LEOs on the 15th of every month. Granted, at first I had a good amount of liquid LEOs to allow me to do that, but over time I figured out a way I could keep earning at least that much each month, by delegation. In the end my strategy paid off, and today I am earning way more than the minimum LPUD requirement of 150 LEO, or even the 200 LEO I set as for myself as my minimum.

How Much is That Exactly?

Right... that is the question I always keep asking myself. Together from @leo.bounties and @leo-curator I get at least 10 LEOs a day, more or less. But each time I try to look back on the 15th to the last month, I am either confronted with some mad calculations or some rough estimates. This is why I have decided to approach the whole thing from the opposite end: I will keep 1,500 liquid LEOs, and will power up everything above that. This time that was 469.861 LEOs, so let's see how much there will be for next time. I also increased my delegation to @leo-curator to 15,000 LEOs, let's hope that will affect my monthly earnings.

Finally a Winner

I understand, as LeoFinance is being spread across multiple platforms, there are each time more participants in our monthly LPUD. As I understand, this last one broke all the previous records! Which makes me feel especially fortunate to be among the winners this time! Yesterday I received a delegation of 5,000 LP from @trumpman (thank you very much). So now that I got this fat delegation, what am I gonna do with it? Of course, curate like there's no tomorrow. Which brings up a number of challenges.

The New Leo Finance - Still Room for Improvement

Before I start badmouthing the new user interface, I have to acknowledge that a number of things have been improved that kept bothering me: The night mode is now legible, and the value of all votes a post has earned is also indicated before I open the post. Not that this is my only criteria for casting votes, however, it does remain one of the factors. So I can see there is constant effort being put into making this platform as easy and fun to use as the previous one (which I must say, I quite liked), and that deserves a big Thank You!!!

As for the bugs (not so much bugs, actually, but more like areas to improve), what I would like to list here are all things that would make curating and casting votes easier and more efficient.

  • Mana counter How much Mana do I have left? Surely I don't want to go too low, but then again, I would like to make best use of what I got, particularly since most of it I received specifically for this purpose.
  • Value of my Vote Let's say I decide to support a post with a 50% vote, or a 100%, or maybe just a tiny 5% for a cool thread... How much would that mean in terms of rewards? Again, something highly useful for curating, which I'm certain will be implemented again.
  • Scrolling Well, this seems to be an obvious bug, but when I scroll through my feed, I tend to see (some of) the same posts pop up again, which I just scrolled past a minute before.
  • Default Vote Weight Right now every time I want to vote, the innitial weight is always 5%, which I can still change. I can see how well that works for Threads, where one may pass out hundreds of these tiny votes in one day. For me, though, I'd prefer giving heavier votes (like 50% or so), primarily on long-form content. Changing the default would be great, and I suppose I'll be able to do that under Settings, once it's been unlocked.
  • Curated Okay, here I am certain it's just a matter of getting around to developing it. On the left hand menu the third item looks very promising, but once you click on it, it takes you to an unimpressively empty profile named @curated that you can follow. Normally I'd see no reason to, but in this case I joined the other 67 followers.

Well, so much for now on my current experience with LEO. It keeps getting better, but there is still a way to go. Still, I am certainly not going to just sit on my LP, but pass it around to make the most out of it.
