A DAY FILLED WITH CELEBRATION!

Good morning! Well, here's another late drawing in celebration for the WORLD AFRO DAY, CHEESE TOAST DAY, INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY, and MAKE A HAT DAY. There's a lot of celebration in September 15th that I'd like to make art from so I just combined them all in one piece to save time.

Here I drew a black woman with a beautiful fluffy hair while eating a cheese toast and wearing a hat and polka dot earrings. This is my first time to draw dark skin and I'm a little nervous whether this will come out good. Hehe. But at least I tried, you won't improve without practice! :D

Am I the only one who finds afro hair cool and stylish? And I think it makes the scalp warm at the same time because it's fluffy and thick? Hmm..

The World Afro Day is celebrated as an appreciation for the beauty of afro hair. It is also a day to show positivity towards our black and mixed-race community. That's right, it isn't also our black friends who are blessed with such natural fashionable hair, there are the mixed-race community too and the popular Aeta tribe here in our country.

On the other hand, the cheese toast is inspired by a Japanese cheese toast store here in the country wherein their cheese stretch and form strings when you bite it. It's popular because of it. People, especially kids, love it. The wrapper I drew is not the exact packaging though. Hehe.

I chose a knitted bonnet for her because it's "Make A Hat Day". Knitting and crocheting hats are awesome you know. I crocheted two hats before though I haven't worn them outside since it's thick and it doesn't suit the warm temperature outside. Unless I'm living in Baguio, then maybe I can wear them everyday. Haha! I chose a yellow color for her hat because I think the color suits dark skin. I've seen a few people with dark complexion wearing something in yellow color and it looks good on them. :)

Meanwhile, I completed her look with a pair of polka dot earrings. I have nothing much to explain about it. Lol. But did you know, the Internationa Dot Day was inspired from a children's book by Peter H. Reynolds, "The Dot".

DRAWING PROCESS

There are tutorials I saw online about laying all the shadows around the face at the same time then blending them together. I tried it but I don't think it came out nice. Lol. I think I still have to learn how to blend colors and the right colors for the skin, of course.

I also have to redo the eyebrows because my tablet stopped working so I have to exit the program and fix the issue, and when I returned, the eyebrows wasn't saved. Aww!
