Drawing Submitted Portraits (Night Art Party)

Good morning! Yesterday, I posted the drawings from the kids' art party inspired by Filipino painter Damian Domingo. Today, I will be sharing to you drawings from photos submitted to Robert Alejandro.

A week before the art party, teacher Robert asked his viewers to submit portraits which they will draw on the next art party for adults. There were a lot of entries and of course I submitted an entry too, but I was able to submit it a few hours from the art party so Robert probably didn't see it. I submitted my mother's photo because it will be a nice surprise for her birthday, but luck can't always be in our favor. It's alright. Hehe!

Robert Alejandro is a Filipino artist, a former tv host of the art program "art is-kool", and one of the owners *(and the artist behind) *of the craft store Papemelroti.

For this night art party, Robert picked portraits he liked to paint. He used different mediums to create the portraits like waterbrush, dermatograph, and a regular paintbrush. He always mentioned throughout the party that he likes "ugly" drawings more than those which look neat. In my case, I only used a paintbrush because I don't have the other materials.

Doing the previous art parties always makes me a little bit anxious and my hand stiff because I make sure to copy Robert's style of drawing. But when he mentioned that it's better when it's uglier, it helped me relax and just go "ugly" with my drawing. Sometimes a messy art doesn't mean it's ugly. It's art! Do you get it? Lol.

Here are the paintings I did from the night art party. Teacher Robert drew each on separate pages but I fitted as much portraits as I can on the half long coupon bond because I want to maximize the space of the paper. I made the paintings small too to save black watercolor.

From all of the portraits, I guess this one is my favorite.

This one right here looks like a Japanese man. Actually the guy in the portrait isn't a Japanese, it's just how my painting turned out. Lol.

And this girl portrait looks just like my elementary classmate. I was surprised upon realizing it after staring at it for awhile. Lol.

Robert's art parties runs for an hour. Wednesdays at 7 PM for the adults and Saturdays at 10 AM for the kids.
