Straykat's Bucket List Destination

Good evening! So recently, I came across a post by @galenkp, "Weekend-engagement topic week 31: Bucket list destination or activity". I think it's a fun and easy topic and so I thought of sharing my list in the comments of his post but I want to write more so I decided to make a separate post for it.

STRAYKAT'S BUCKET LIST DESTINATION

When thinking of places to visit, my priority destination will of course be in my country. Before I head out overseas, I want to see and immerse myself to the beauty of my country. Philippines may be a third world country but it is blessed with magnificent spots one can truly enjoy.

I heard a lot of great feedback from travelers about Cebu. I think there's a lot to do in that island. From nature tripping, foods, and that huge mall I kept seeing on vlogs. I guess Cebu and the southern part of the country are also heavily advertised by the tourism department and so most foreigners have this image of our country that it is only composed of coconut trees, bananas, mangoes, and jungle. Haha. Well, I'd rather be on nature surrounded by coconut trees while eating bananas and mangoes too than getting suffocated by pollution and stressed by the endless traffic in Manila! (But Manila is an awesome place for business, food, and leisure. 😁)

I think Oslob is also in Cebu, a popular place where you can do whale shark watching.

Next destination is a neighbor of the Cebu island, Bohol. Bohol is the home of Chocolate Hills and tarsiers. But this island is not just about hills and tarsiers, there are tons of other places and activities you can enjoy too. Beautiful beaches, dolphin-watching, man-made forest, river cruising, and more. A relative lives in this island and he is willing to take us around when we go there for vacation. :)

After going to the southern part of the country, let's go a bit northwest, to another popular island, Palawan. Palawan is among the top destinations in the country. Even Bill Gates and his family visited the place in 2015. The island is known for its beautiful beaches, majestic rock formations, and underground river. The popular locations in Palawan are El Nido, Puerto Princesa, and Coron. I don't swim so if ever I get the chance to visit these places, I would just be on the boat staring at the beautiful water and rock formations.

If not yet given the chance to visit Palawan and other places on the southern Philippines, I would start by visiting Bataan, particularly at the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. This village is a home to old and Spanish-inspired Filipino mansions. A wealthy man collected all these and made a village for his collection. It is a popular destination for people who wants to experience a glimpse of Philippine history. It's also a popular venue for prenup pictorials. Aside from the village, there are also other places to see in Bataan like the Bataan National Park.

Next province I want to visit is Pampanga. The province is known as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines. I've been here once last 2018 but I haven't eaten any of their local food. The cities like Clark and San Fernando seemed organized. It's understandable because lots of foreigners live in this area. Pampanga is where the Clark Air Base and US Naval Base is. When I get back to this province, I will make sure not to miss eating Sisig and see the giant lantern festival during Christmas.

If there's a mountainous place I wanted to visit in my country, it will definitely be the province of Benguet. I've been here several times but only often at Baguio City. The farthest part I've been to is the town La Trinidad. I wanted to explore more of the less urbanized parts of the province where there are picturesque sceneries of mountains and learn more their culture.

If there's an ultimate local destination it will surely be the islands of Batanes. Located at the northernmost part of the country, it is one of the most beautiful places most Filipinos dream to visit. It is famous for its beautiful rolling hills, unspoiled beaches, stone houses, and its people for being honest. The only way to get here is through plane and to be able to get to the three main islands of Batanes, you have to ride a boat and brave the strong waves which the locals consider as "normal". I've seen a video of someone traversing the sea to get to another island and it looks scary. I really want to go to Batanes but the strong waves kind of holds me back. Hahaha.

NOW LET'S GO OUT OF THE PHILIPPINES!

When I get the chance to go out of the country these are the places I wish to visit.

First on my bucket list would be Japan. As someone who is fan of Japanese music and watches a lot of anime in the past, Japan is definitely the ultimate out of the country dream destination. I have now moved out from being obsessed with anime and so Akihabara is no longer the only place I wanted to see in Japan. 😂 Aside from the busy cities, I want to explore the nature and their culture. If I mention all the places I want to see in Japan then this post might get very long. Lol. Although some activities I never want to miss when I visit this country are eating local foods (ramen, sushi, all kinds of matcha, taiyaki, etc.), wear a yukata or maybe a kimono, ride the shinkansen, and visit the Tokyo Digital Art Museum.

Next would be going on a country where you can catch a sight of the Aurora Borealis. I think it's mostly seen on European countries like Norway or Iceland. I would probably just sit under the skies while drinking matcha I bought in Japan. :D

Honestly, that would be all the places I really wish to see before I die but if I will be blessed with lots of money, I want see Spain and Italy for its foods, art, and striking historical structures. I would also consider dropping by France. I wish it's that easy. Lol. I'd also like to visit Greece. I don't hear a lot about this country but the Greek Mythology is interesting so might as well take a peek on it.

Moving out of Europe, I also want to visit Samoa in Polynesia. The scenery in this country is similar to my country but I still want to see it because their culture seemed interesting. The film Moana opened my interest for this place.

Last would be Turkey, I heard cats are just anywhere in the streets of Istanbul and people actually take care of them. I would go to Turkey just to see this cat heaven. A cat cafe as huge as the city? Sounds fun! Second reason will be the foods, third for the hot air balloons.

However, if I would be very very rich, like I no longer know where to spend my money 😂, one place I would definitely go to is the outer space! It's an unrealistic dream destination and will never be ticked on my bucket list for the rest of my life. Maybe the only way is to astral travel or when I die. I want to experience floating in space, feel weightless in zero gravity, and stare on earth from above. :)

There's a lot of places I've mentioned on this post, local and abroad. Let's see if my homebody self can tick any of these on the list. And if ever I would visit these places, I wanted it to be with my sister and family. There's no better way to travel than with the people you love and love you. :)

Halos magkaparehu tayo ng mga gustong puntahan. Try mo din ang Siquijor. Bali from Cebu to Bohol then to Siquijor. Hehe Ganda ng set-up na ganyan. Kung pwede lang sana magbakasyon ng 2 weeks no? Why not!!!
