Cables, wires, connections.

I like the fact that relationships between people can be metaphorised endlessly by borrowing words from every field of life.

Dealings, kinship, connection, association, correlation, linkage, affinity, link, similarity, resemblance, interrelation, relevance, bond, tie, affiliation, union, alliance, agreement, correspondence, likeness, identicalness, conformity, sameness, community, alikeness, congruity....

We can use a different word each day of the year to highlight changes in a relationship, outline its contours, test its strength or stress the flaws in connectivity. Naming relationships can be part of the fun or a difficult responsibility.

Is it really more important to build bridges and not put boundaries?

Or maybe let's put up boundaries, but remember to build doors?

Doors give us control, but they also signal to the outside world that we are open. That in addition to the wall, there are also gates.

How often will the gate be open?

podwojne pioro zlote gradient.png

New connections

As I have mentioned in my previous posts - I highly value the relationship, menor student. Personally, I think it's a much more complex relationship than the cold, purely academic one - professor-student.

Although I have spent a lot of time at work coaching new employees, I have never thought of myself in terms of a mentor. I don't like the word coach because, through the overuse of the term by 'experts in everything', it has become empty word for me.

Let's put semantics aside. This month as part of a challenge orgnized by #DreemPort and @dreemsteem we worked with new #hive blockchain users. We supported them with a good word, got them into the fun on our discord channel, as well as inviting them to work with DreemPort.

At the very beginning I asked @dreemsteem if she was considering me as a 'newbie' or already a 'full-fledged' user. She replied that I was basically still a newbie, but no longer a 'baby-newbie' :D

And that's how I feel too. I'm not completely green, but there's still a lot of stuff about the platform that I need to learn.

podwojne pioro zlote gradient.png

You take out as much as you put in

This week we tried to help the real 'baby-newbies', accounts that are very fresh and definitely green:) This time it was us - not so new anymore, but not yet seniors - who tried our hand at mentoring. What's more - newcomers will be able to participate with us in a 'Treasure Hunt' on discord. This is not the first such game, and I hope that this month - it will not be the last:)

I myself have been embraced by the spreading wings of the Dreemers, and have tried to transfer what I have learned into more willing hands. Time will tell if I succeeded:)

podwojne pioro zlote gradient.png

Aghrrrrr!

I like the version of Treasure Hunt we have now - one slightly larger prize, lots of tiny prizes and the rest of the 'digs' empty. Everyone this way has a better chance(mathematically speaking) of digging up some treasure, even if small. Besides, the promise of a slightly 'bigger' prize raises excitement but does not generate envy between participants - at least I think so. For me, the most important part of this game is the fact that, despite the different time zones, we all get together at the 'same' time to have fun:)

For my part, as a variety to this already exciting event - I was thinking of introducing a small game before the 'treasure dig', a kind of 'trivia evening'. With questions from different areas, a few seconds for the answer (to give no time for cheating of course), preferably with questions with answers to choose from. Participants who answer well - get an extra 'dig' :)

About drawing

It is my old work. Has been made around 2014- 15. Originally it meant to be a self-portrait, but after a few lines to represent my face - I covered it with a red permanent marker and threw the sketchbook into a corner. That same day, in the evening, I looked at the drawing again, and started outlining the red spot with a thin black pen. And so from line to string, from string to shape - something appeared after all.

podwojne pioro zlote gradient.png

Today I used photoshop to mirror the photo of the drawing and I saw the gate in front of me.

And you, what do you see?

Hmmm, the notion of boundaries with doors and gates. 🤔 That's a good way to look at relationships because boundaries are as important as bridges so we can have healthy interactions and still stay sane.

The drawing does actually look like a gate. One that has a very feminine and organic feel. The self-portrait is a great addition, too. Yay, Photoshop!

Congrats on growing your Hive stats and branching out 😊.

Yeah, It is really difficult to find balance between those two:)

As I start to play with the reflections in photoshop - the effect really surprised me. When I looked at the image itself, it didn't even occur to me that the perception could change so much!

Yes, I usually use photoshop to change the resolution of images to make them suitable for the platform and to add watermarks only. I probably should play with the media a bit more, but if I have a choice between a paper and a pencil and a screen, I always choose paper:)

Congrats on growing your Hive stats and branching out 😊.

Haven't really thought about it too much. I actually though is bit sneaky to marry #DreemPort challenge with something that I had on my mind in a while :) I always have a problem to place my posts, to chose community I mean. There is always( at least) 2 in 1 :)

And most of all - just really happy to be here.

Ahh, I see. I haven't used Photoshop myself, but I've watched tutorials. Lots of features and possibilities, to say the least.

Regarding communities and where to post, it's actually amazing how many places there are to post. This (Hive) is not a huge space, but it still has many "corridors", if that makes sense. Yeah! Happy to be here and open mind is a good way to look at it. : )

Yeah, I am using usually 30 - 60 photos on my posts, if I ought to use original resolution it would be a disaster :D Not to mention watermarks :)

Yep, I am still discovering too:)

Greetings from here. I really like the drawing, the strokes, the color and the concept you give to it. And you're right, in a way, when one calls oneself "teacher or coach" it can feel like too much, like a heavy label that doesn't refer to what one really is: someone who knows about a niche. Hugs.

Hi @carminasalazarte, welcome to my blog!

I am glad you like my work. I am always reluctant to show my old works, becouse they usually have big emotional weight but they are not very good in the terms strictly 'technical' one might say.

They are my journal, so obviously very personal. Luckily - every person can see something else in my drawings, and that's very reason I decide to show them every now and then:)

And you're right, in a way, when one calls oneself "teacher or coach" it can feel like too much, like a heavy label that doesn't refer to what one really is: someone who knows about a niche. Hugs.

I would fully agree. One that KNOW, not one who uses empty words, trite phrases and truisms to fill 45 minutes of a highly paid course :D

Yes I can see a gate there for sure. Relationships are complicated, I guess it is all part of the human experience we are having. With boundaries, I noticed once I put a fence up around my house, it felt good and created some boundaries with others around me.

I just love how the (d)hedge token fits the whole narrative!!!
Thank you sincerely:)

I don't have my own house yet, but if I ever manage to buy one - the first thing I'll do is plant a row or two of thujas :D

Not at all to fence myself in, just to set a boundary :D

Thank you for your comment and for 'picking' me:)

Great intro to your post, Strega! Sometimes we are so close to things that despite the advice we give to others, we fail to heed it ourselves. Bridges, boundaries, gates! I like this. I recently had a really good conversation about this with a friend and she helped me to see better how to ensure that the right people make it across the bridge, over the moat, and into the castle, into our inner space. To do so, we need to have strong boundaries to keep out those who don't value the free pass or the time that we give to them. No point in trying to focus our energy to nurture a small safe space and entry point if the castle walls are being breached left right and centre, right? And so now I protect my space and my heart a little more - it's been broken a few times by people who have been way too careless with it... off-chain and here on Hive, but I'm the queen of my castle and I am so pleased I was nudged to remember that hehe. The irony? I share the same perspectives with others about protecting our boundaries... but... ahem... I seemed to have let my own slide a little. Anyway, it's been a great conversation these past couple of weeks, and life is good!

edit: ps: and I see a being in white and an angel protecting the gate. Love the addition of the self-portrait and the mirror image effect to create all of this. I also see a lioness helping out hehe

You know, there is a great need for your presence in different places at the same time, and unless you grow a clone - you will have to dispose of your time so that you set aside at least a few hours for sleep ;)

Besides - it shouldn't be the case that you just cut your time into pieces like cake and distribute it among people. It is your cake! And it's up to you how and if - to share with it.

Nevertheless, it all sounds so cool when I'm praying on the internet. I know how it is Sam:)

I am glad that your 👉Friend👈 helped you to put your boundaries in the right places. Great friend indeed!

I also won't pretend that my article didn't have a subliminal message ;)

That's really interesting. I am by default wired to see faces in every pattern, cloud and puddle, but you see something that I cannot! So so cool!

There is this thing called pareidolia. Like when you see faces in patterns on the carpet or in clouds. Now it was debunked but as recently as 20 years ago this was considered the first symptoms of schizophrenia. The psychiatry made a huge leap there, isn't it?

The trivia will be so nice. A good way to test our intelligence especially if it's going to be general questions and not just on hive 🙈.

Nice one🙌

The knowledge on Hive is endless and the point when one thinks he or she knows it all, they discover that there is more to be learned.

I am a newbie as well except that I know a few things that a new newbie doesn't know and pouring the knowledge into them isn't a bad idea. I can tell you had a great time with Marathon, sharing knowledge is always fun to do especially on Hive.

The drawing... I am speechless again

Great work.

100%, there is plenty to learn, and I would say - that's whole fan part of this place:) I really liked this challenge too, because I was able to work closely with other users, and see their way of 'hiving'. Really cool experience!

I am happy you like my drawing:) Thank you for your visit, really appreciate!

To me actually, you are far from green.. Newbie shouldn't apply in the same sentence your name appears 😂😂

You grew so fast and one thing I always love about is that your posts are always top notch... I give it to you anytime anyday 🙇

Back to the Business of the day, that's quite a trivia 😂
Like you always know people tend to browse answers and cheat once the time is long enough.... It's a great suggestion Actually only if the questions will be fair... I just finished exam, I don't want to start writing another exam😂😂

I am very flattered that user such as yourself @sperosamuel15 is saying that, it's truly means the world!

Trivia

Oh, I hate exams myself, would want to stress anybody. Just fun, bit dumb even questions, just to put smile on our faces and train the hand in fast clicking the answer :D

I must be feeling maternal... I see the inside of a womb with all the caverns and secret places hehehehe or maybe your post made me think of babies and the nurturing that happens with mothers - as you're talking about newbies hahaha

I'm so proud of how so many people stepped up in this challenge... it was a hard month for lots of people - but rewarding too. If we could harness this energy and balance it going forward - it would be really powerful!!

but that's the trick hehehe balance.

gates and doors... very important hehehe

I have always liked the saying "good fences make good neighbors" hehehe

have you ever heard about the analogy of the children playing in the yard of the houses on the cliff...

the children that had no fence around their yard.. ended up playing huddled in fear in the center of the yard, because they were scared to go too close to the edge.

but the children that had a fence around the yard - played to the full extent of the yard... free and light-hearted, because they had no fear of falling.

boundaries are good. hehehe the people who tell you they are not.... are wrong LOL

love you lady!

I must be feeling maternal...

I can see this @dreemsteem. The pattern is very organic after all. Plus that was a time I was very into macro pictures of tissues, skin, hairs and all of that microcosm of a body. I can see that too:)

So you will be one with the sickle, eh?
Don't cut do deep, I grow slowly!

I have always liked the saying "good fences make good neighbours" hehehe

In my case - I would have to have sound proof one too :)

I very much like this story about kids in fenced yard. I completely agree - we need some safe place, at least for a while, or once in a while depend on our needs.

boundaries are good. hehehe the people who tell you they are not.... are wrong LOL

They are machiavellian as****, that's all :D

Thank you for your visit Busy Bee!
