We all have some sort of anxiety & it can be worse for some than it is for others. Ther are ways to help keep your anxiety at bay, but some anxiety cannot be controlled.

What is anxiety?

"Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness. It might cause you to sweat, feel restless and tense, and have a rapid heartbeat. It can be a normal reaction to stress. For example, you might feel anxious when faced with a difficult problem at work, before taking a test, or before making an important decision. It can help you to cope. The anxiety may give you a boost of energy or help you focus. But for people with anxiety disorders, the fear is not temporary and can be overwhelming." Taken verbatum from here.

My Anxiety....

I could say that I have good control over my anxiety, actually I try to live a lifestyle that is anxiety free. I However, when I am stressed, that's when I can say my anxiety kicks in. As I read about anxiety, I find that I do have some but it's not bad at all. I find that since I try not to get stressed there are other types of anxiety that I have, like phobias.

What are Phobias?

"An intense fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. Their fear may be about spiders, flying, going to crowded places, or being in social situations (known as social anxiety)."

I find that I tend to think people are starring at me when I go somewhere with lots of people and my mind starts to wander and I think about it constantly while in that situation. I also freak out whenever there are bugs present, and I often have 'social anxieties'. Source

My Anxieties, Phobias, & Control

The one thing I realize is that all my anxieties are caused by stress, and control. When I can not make a deadline I set for myself, or can't control a situation that's when the anxiety kick in. The phobias are a whole other thing. Like it's not just the spider that freaks me out, it's more so their web. I can't stand the way it feels & sometimes like when you walk down the street and you feel something go across your face that feels like a piece of hair, You probably just walked through a spider web. That freaks me out. It's really the little things that cause me some anxiety.

What's My Remedy?

I try to keep control of things I can. Like with the web thing, I don't walk where I know it's possible, I'll go around rather then through.

Deadlines I control as much as possible by set my own deadline with a cuishion so that I finish early or if I'm running behind I know I still have time. If something is due at 6 then I set a dealine for 3, this way when 3 hits I know I still have time to hustle without stressing.

Everyday life can produce lots of stress, I handle this by not letting it get to me when something happens, I take a step back & look at how fast I need to react. I take each day as it comes and handle one thing at a time.

In social settings, I usually look for somwone I know & usually end up talking withothers who that person talks with until I'm comfortable, then I can talk to anyone that's willing to listen or strikes up a conversation. I don't like crowds, so when possible I'll just sit in an out of the way spot & wait to be approached. If a conversation gets uncomfortable, I make an excuse to move on.

Conclusion

I think the key to anxiety is to learn to control as much of the situation as possible. You can't control everything, so control what you can. When all else fails, take a deep breath & remove yourself from the situation. Take a bathroom break, go outside & have a smoke or at least get some air.
