For Market Friday today I visited the Dollar General (DG) stores in my city. Being a small town I would say that You're covered if you're looking for a Dollar General store to stop at. When I first started out i didn't take too many pics but as I got into what I was doing, I started taking more pictures or at least it seems that way. I think the store are all about the same size but it seem there were more food isles in some than there were in others.

We have 4 stores in all, with them being on different sides of the city, so no matter what side of town you're on there's a Dollar General store you can stop at.

I am going to walk you through each store as best I can, hoping that you feel as if you were walking through each store with me. I will also share my purchase in each store. I wasn't out to shop, I was out to get pics for my market friday post, so I just made a small purchase in each store.

This store is one of the older stores here in the city and has the older look. So when I walked in the door the register was to the right, which I couldn't get a good picture of 'cause there were people there everytime I went near it. I try not to take pictures where there are people at.
To the left was the beginning of the food with the chip aisle.so I went down the second aisle where the freezers were along the wall and when I turned left in that corner which woul take you down the chip aisle wa where there was the beer & wine across from the chips. I then turned around and head down by the freezers and they strecth along that wall nearly to the back of the store. As I walked through, I tried to take a picture of all the food aisles but there were people in a couple of them so I skipped those aisles. As I headed to the front of the store, you can see in next to the last pic, there's a view of the font grocery section, pretty much where I started, now to the right. Once again, the register, now to my left was busy with people so I still couldn't get no pics of that area. Here I purchased some laundry booster which i need for laundry day tomorrow, it was cheaper here then at Walmart where I would usually get this from. I saved about a dollar. This stor is about 1.9 miles from my house in the eastward direction.

This store is 2.5 miles from me and was just buitl last year. Today is the first time I visited this Dollar General. You've seen one store you've seen them all. Being newly built they of course have the new look.

When you walk in the front door to your right you will find the grocery section. There's the chips & cakes & the candy is in the second aisle. Yhe next aisle over takes you straight to the freezer aisle on the wall, at the end if you go right, you will se some freezers and if you walk down to the end and go right you will see the the wine and energy drinks across from the chips. down the other way on the wall is more freezers.Walk adown that aisle and go left you will see a few more ailes, at the last aisle which puts you almost in the center of the store turn left and head back to the front.

Third pic from the end you'll see to your left the ailes where you came into the store from a different view. To your right is the aisle that takes you around to the register. This ailes holdes a variety of items from pjone card & such to small snacks to entice you on the way out. I just picked up a couple of items I could always use around the house. Air freshner refill & some mini cups, they say ar mini shot glasses but I use them for various things like sometimes when I'm cooking and need something small to measure out spices and such for a recipe.

By the quickest way to this store is 2.6 miles. This store was built in the last couple of years and I have to pass the closet store to me just to get there. I usually visit this store if I am at my daughter's house.

The layout of this store is pretty similar to the last one. I was able to get pictures of all the aisles in this store as it was less busy while I was there.

When you walk in the front door, you'll see the register area to the left and the grocery section to the right. As I passed by I was able to get pics of the area by the doo before the chips aisle which is where the wine & beer is by the wall and there's a few display racks the contain small bads of chips and cakes. Behind the chip aisle is the candy aisle where I walked down to get to the freezers on the far wall. Turn right ther's the frezzers and turn left even more freezers. I think this store is the largest cause these freezers weht almost clear to the back of the store.

The next pic (third row fist pic) shows a view of the freezer aisle from the back of th store, just behind me were the doors to the back room. Then three rowa of groceries and the fourth is where I headed back to the front of the store where to the right is where you turn to get to the register.

On the way to the register is you the aisle starts with all tose goodies that says, 'buy me' as your headed out of the store. As you walk down the aisle & around to the register you see soda freezer and all the candy bars just screaming at you. They even have snacks & small nic nacs grabbing your attention as you step up to the register to check out.
from this store I bought a card for 'Mother's Day for my Mother'. I hadn't picked one up so this was a good last minute purchase. Just one more store to go.

This is the closest one to me, only 0.6 miles from me, walking distance, which I have walked to many times over the years. This is the oldest Dollar General in the area. The lay out of this store is pretty much the same as the last two. The only difference in this store is that it's not a stand alone store like the others, it sit in a mini mall.

I wasn't able to get a full series of pics in this one as they had a lot of freight out waiting to be shelvd, plus there were several people in the store which stopped me from getting good pics of several aisles.

Here my purchase was some pork egg rolls that I have been dying to get. They were a little pricy though, but since I wouldn't be shooping today and I really wanted them, I bought them. Not to mention that I got them at a cheaper price because someone hadn;t done their job and change the price in the freezer.

Are Prices The Same At All Stores?

Well as I was out taking pictures for this post, I really wasn't out to shop but did manage to make a small purchase from each store as indicated above. My purchases were influenced mainly by price but one purchase I made was inflienced by the wanting of the product as well.

I wanted these Egg Rolls but wasn't willing to pay the actual price for them. I had never purchased this brand before and was afraid they may not be as tasty as another brand I recently tried. However, when I got to the last store, I saw that the sign said they were $1.25 cheaper, but when I got to the register they rung at a higher price, $7.43 she said. I told the cashier that they sign said they were $6, she said show me and after I did show gave them to me for that price. Otherwise, I would not have gotten them.

Price Difference 2.png

While Dollar General is a merchadiser that usually has the same price at all locations they will honor the displayed as with most merchandisers do. The price may vary from state to state, but not usually store to store in the same state.

I normally don't shop at Dollar General unless I've seen a sale in their ads for something I use. Things for the most part are usually higher so I tend to stay away.
