Hello all sewing lovers! After a while without touching the sewing machine, I finally managed to organize myself to sew a little. On this occasion, it was some clothes for my personal use. I had purchased the fabric last year, but since I didn't have my sewing machine with me, I had to postpone using it until today. What I wanted was to make a simple long-sleeved dress that would be comfortable for any type of outing and luckily for me, with the leftover fabric, I was also able to make a nice top.

Even though I have been sewing for years, I mention that I still consider myself an amateur seamstress, because in a way, I am a disaster with some things when it comes to sewing ha ha and my strong point is straight and fast seams, which It is better for making pieces without such a clean finish. Even so, I dare to make one or another item of clothing for myself, my family and sometimes for sale.

👗 Dress 👗

As I told you, the amount of fabric I used to make these two pieces in particular was one meter. Let's start talking about the dress. For it, I used as a pattern a dress that I made years ago, removing the front and back pieces, as well as the sleeves, although the latter were the desired length.

Once I had the pieces cut out, I immediately moved on to the sewing machine. First, I joined the front and back pieces at the shoulders, with a straight seam at the foot of the machine and a zig zag seam on the edge, for safety and because I don't have an overlock machine.

The next thing was to attach the sleeves, sewing them from the armhole part of the piece previously made; In the same way, I made a straight line seam at the foot of the machine, along with a zig zag type seam on the edge.

Then, I proceeded to close the piece on both sides. Trying to make a few small notches in the curved areas so that when sewing in a zig zag pattern, the fabric would not pucker. I also took advantage of rectifying the length of the dress, cutting off the excess.

Once this was done, I went on to sew the edges of both the sleeves, the bottom of the dress, as well as the neck. To do this, I made a small fold towards the inside of the dress and sewed it with a straight machine seam. When sewing the neck, sometimes you can choose to make a separate piece, which serves as a bias; but in this case, the fabric gave way quite well and I didn't need it.

Finally, I took one of my brand labels (Suecitos) and sewed it on the back of the dress. I like to place these labels on the clothes and other products that I sew, as I feel that it gives a more personal touch to my creations. These labels are hand-embroidered with sewing thread and so far, I have made two sizes: the large ones (Suecitos) and the small ones (Sue).

As a final addition, I took a strip of fabric about the length of my waist, plus some excess, and sewed it along the edge. That way, I can wear the dress closer to my body if I tie the ribbon.

I really liked the result. I am someone who enjoys wearing loose clothing and the fabric is quite soft. A few years ago I had seen some dresses of this style with more striking designs. I hope that my next long-sleeved dresses are more similar to those I saw in a shop window. and obviously, this dress would be the pattern.

👚 Top type blouse 👚

For the top, I used the fabric that was left over from the length of the dress (because I had made it too long 🤣). I then cut two rectangular pieces that covered my bust area (which was easy because I have an almost non-existent bust 🤣). I also cut some strips of fabric for the shoulders. I know that the tops as such do not have those strips, but I didn't know what name to give the garment as such 😅 Anyway, I sewed the rectangular pieces on the sides, with a straight and ziz zag seam.

Next, I sewed a seam at the top and bottom of the piece, to cover the edges of the fabric. I then tried to sew these strips at the top of the piece. Making a simple seam on each edge. Likewise, I placed my label on it once it was finished.

And that's how I got a topsito. I like those types of clothes, but I didn't have any until now. I'm not one to wear clothes that allow me to show my abdomen, but with the current climate and since they don't look too bad on me, I think I could start wearing them to get rid of my complex.

Sewing these garments raised my spirits regarding sewing, since the fabric was quite easy to sew and I didn't have any major problems when making the clothes. I plan to make simple clothes like these to offer in my store. What do you think? ✨

¡Hola a todos los amantes de la costura! Luego de un rato sin tocar la máquina de coser, por fin logré organizarme para coser un poco. En ésta ocasión, se trató de unas prendas para mi uso personal. La tela la había adquirido el año pasado, pero como no tenía mi máquina de coser conmigo, tuve que posponer el utilizarla hasta el día de hoy. Lo que quería era realizar un vestido sencillo manga larga, que fuese cómodo para cualquier tipo de salida y para mi suerte, con el sobrante de tela, también pude confeccionarme un lindo top.

A pesar de que tengo años cosiendo, comento que me sigo considerando una costurera amateur, porque en cierto modo, soy un desastre con algunas cosas a la hora de coser ja ja y es que mi fuerte, son las costuras rectas y rápidas, lo que es mejor para elaboraciones de piezas sin un acabado tan limpio. Aún así, me atrevo a hacer una que otra prenda de ropa para mí, mi familia y en algunas ocasiones para la venta.

👗 Vestido 👗

Como les comenté, la cantidad de tela que utilicé para elaborarme estas dos piezas en particular, fue de un metro. Comencemos hablando del vestido. Para el mismo, utilicé como patrón un vestido que me hice años atrás, sacando la pieza delantera y trasera, así como las mangas, aunque estas últimas, con el largo deseado.

Una vez que tuve las piezas cortadas, pasé inmediatamente a la máquina de coser. Primero, uní las piezas delantero y trasero en la parte de los hombros, con una costura recta a pie de máquina y una costura en zig zag en el borde, para seguridad y porque no cuento con la máquina overlock.

Lo siguiente, fue anexar las mangas, cosiéndolas desde la parte de la sisa de la pieza anteriormente realizada; del mismo modo, realicé una costura en línea recta a pie de máquina, junto a una costura tipo zig zag en el borde.

Luego, procedí a cerrar la pieza en ambos laterales. Procurando hacer unos pequeños piquetes en las zonas curvas para cuando realizase la costura en zig zag, la tela no se frunciera. Aproveché también de rectificar el largo del vestido, cortando el excedente.

Una vez hecho esto, pasé a coser los bordes, tanto de las mangas, la parte inferior del vestido, así como en el cuello. Para ello realicé un pequeño doblez hacia la parte interna del vestido y la pisé con una costura recta a pie de máquina. A la hora de coser el cuello, en ocasiones se puede optar por realizar una pieza aparte, que sirve a modo de sesgo; pero en éste caso, la tela cedió bastante bien y no tuve necesidad de ello.

Finalmente, tomé una de las etiquetas de mi marca (Suecitos) y la cosí en la parte trasera del vestido. Me gusta colocar estas etiquetas en las ropas y demás productos que coso, ya que siento que le da un toque más personal a mis creaciones. Estas etiquetas son bordadas a mano con hilo de coser y hasta los momentos, he fabricado dos tamaños: Las grandes (Suecitos) y las pequeñas (Sue).

Como añadido final, tomé una tira de tela del largo más o menos de mi cintura, más un excedente y la cosí en el borde. De ese modo, podré usar el vestido más ceñido al cuerpo si me amarro la cinta.

Me gustó mucho el resultado. Soy de quienes disfruta de usar ropa holgada y la tela es bastante suave. Hace unos años atrás había visto unos vestidos de éste estilo con diseños más llamativos. Espero que mis próximos vestidos de manga larga, sean más parecidos a esos que vi en una vitrina. y obviamente, éste vestido sería el patrón.

👚 Blusa tipo top 👚

Para el top, utilicé la tela que resultó del excedente del largo del vestido (porque lo había hecho muy largo 🤣). Corté entonces dos piezas rectangulares que cubrieran la zona de mi busto (lo cual fue fácil porque soy de busto casi inexistente 🤣). También corté unas tiras de tela, para los hombros. Sé que los tops como tal, no tienen esas tiras, pero no sabía que nombre darle como tal a la prenda 😅 En fin, cosí las piezas rectangulares en los laterales, con costura recta y ziz zag.

Después, realicé una costura en la parte superior e inferior de la pieza, para cubrir los bordes de la tela. Procuré coser entonces estas tiras en la parte superior de la pieza. Realizando una costura sencilla en cada borde. De igual forma, le coloqué mi etiqueta una vez que estuvo terminada.

Y así, fue como obtuve un topsito. Me gustan ese tipo de prendas, pero no tenía ninguna hasta ahora. No soy de usar prendas que me permitan mostrar mi abdomen, pero con el clima actual y dado que no me quedan tan mal, creo que podría comenzar a usarlos para dejar mi complejo.

Coser estas prendas me hicieron subir mi ánimo con respecto a la costura, ya que la tela fue bastante fácil de coser y no tuve mayor problema a la hora de fabricar la ropa. Tengo pensado elaborar ropas sencillas como estas para ofrecerlas en mi tienda ¿Qué opinas? ✨
