Esto lo lleva a ser completamente estéril pero no evita que sienta deseos de salir a buscar gatas o a querer pelearse con otros gatos. He subido las historias de todas sus consultas en ésta comunidad, relatando desde el día en que se me fue informada de lo que tenía al tratar de castrarlo (algo imposible en su estado), las palpaciones, sus vacunas y la última vez, el eco pélvic/abdominal que se le realizó, el cual resultó en una búsqueda fallida (los testículos internos deben ser demasiado pequeños como para aparecer en el eco). Hoy lo llevamos de nuevo al veterinario a un chequeo y una nueva palpación, les cuento cómo le fue...

Hi everyone! I have a one and a half year old black cat named Ikki, he has a condition called bilateral cryptorchidism which consists of the total absence of both testicles. This makes him completely sterile but does not prevent him from wanting to go out looking for cats or wanting to fight with other cats. I have uploaded the stories of all his consultations in this community, relating from the day I was informed of what he had when trying to castrate him (something impossible in his state), the palpations, his vaccinations and the last time, the echo pelvic / abdominal test that was performed, which resulted in an unsuccessful search (the internal testes must be too small to show up on the echo). Today we take him back to the vet for a check-up and a new palpation, I'll tell you how he did ...

Tanto el veterinario como el doctor que le realizó el eco, me recomendaron esperar de tres a cuatro meses para volver a checarlo. Realmente estaba ansiosa por ello, ya que sé el comportamiento que suelen tener los gatos machos tras entrar en celo. Mientras pasaba el tiempo, ayudé a mi hermana a castrar a su gato, lo cual lo llevó a convertirse en un gato dócil. Quería eso para Ikki, ya que sé que se estresa cuando los gatos de los vecinos se acercan a su territorio. Y fue precisamente eso lo que me llevó a llevarlo de nuevo al veterinario. Una de las tantas visitas de los gatos vecinos durante la madrugada, provocó en Ikki un comportamiento errático y agresivo. Miraba por debajo de la puerta, respirando fuerte y golpeando con su cuerpo para poder abrir (el suele abrir las puertas de ese modo), hasta había rociado un poco de su orina. Los dueños de la residencia se alertaron ante el escándalo y yo me preocupé mucho, pues no me gusta verlo tan estresado. Estuve por más de una hora, sosteniéndolo y peinándolo, mientras le hablaba, para tratar de calmarlo. En cuanto pude llamé al veterinario y me dijo que lo llevara a una consulta, que era posible que ya sus testículos fueran detectables ¡Serían buenas noticias! Pues tenemos meses sin dormir bien por sus aullidos.

Both the vet and the doctor who performed the echo recommended that I wait three to four months to recheck it. I was really looking forward to it, as I know the behavior male cats tend to have after going into heat. As time passed, I helped my sister neuter her cat, which led to her becoming a docile cat. I wanted that for Ikki, since I know that he gets stressed when the neighbor's cats get close to his territory. And it was precisely that which led me to take him back to the vet. One of the many visits from neighboring cats during the early morning, provoked in Ikki an erratic and aggressive behavior. He looked under the door, breathing hard and slapping his body to open it (he usually opens doors that way), even he had sprayed some of his urine. The owners of the residence were alerted to the scandal and I was very concerned, because I do not like to see him so stressed. I was for more than an hour, holding and combing him, while he spoke to him, to try to calm him down. As soon as I could, I called the vet and he told me to take him for a consultation, that it was possible that his testicles were already detectable. That would be good news! Well, we've had months without a good night's sleep because of his howling.

Por suerte el veterinario trabaja los sábados, por lo que mi pareja @yugochin podía acompañarme (ya que es el único día que tenemos libre y el transportador con Ikki dentro pesa mucho ja ja). El consultorio no queda algo apartado y como tuvimos que ir caminando, fue algo cansado, ya que el sol era inclemente e Ikki se aterraba con el sonido de los autos. En Venezuela es difícil hallar efectivo para pagar el transporte, así que, como no tengo, todo me toca hacerlo a pie je je

Luckily the vet works on Saturdays, so my partner @yugochin could accompany me (since it is the only day we have free and the transporter with Ikki inside is very heavy ha ha). The office is not far away and since we had to walk, it was somewhat tiring, since the sun was inclement and Ikki was terrified by the sound of cars. In Venezuela it is difficult to find cash to pay for transportation, so, since I don't have it, I have to do everything on foot.

Anteriormente le había estado pagando a un chico para que me acompañara durante las consultas, pero como nos mudamos, ésta vez me tocó hacer de guía... cosa en la que soy mala porque me pierdo con facilidad ja ja así que confiaba en lo poco que recordaba del recorrido. Fue algo cómico, pues las rejas del consultorio eran de un color turquesa y casualmente ese día le estaban cambiando de color (ahora son azul marino), así que, por poco nos perdemos ja ja Tras llegar al sitio en cuestión, el lugar estaba lleno de pacientes gatunos, así que tuvimos que esperar, aunque por suerte nos pudimos sentar bajo una sombra y observar desde fuera a los otros pacientes ser atendidos. Había un hermoso gato naranja que estaba allí porque no podía tragar y cuando le daban agua, sólo babeaba. Resulta que le habían dado de comer unos huesos y uno se había atorado en su garganta, el veterinario le inyectó (supongo que un tranquilizante o suero) y le masajeó la garganta. Estuvieron un rato observándolo y estimulándolo, hasta que eventualmente procedió a comer y tragar. Por favor, que esto sea una lección: No debemos darle de comer huesos a nuestras mascotas. Por suerte, esto no pasó de un susto.

Previously I had been paying a boy to accompany me during the consultations, but since we moved, this time I had to act as a guide ... which I am bad at because I get lost easily ha ha so I trusted how little I remembered from the tour. It was something comical, because the bars of the office were turquoise and coincidentally that day they were changing color (now they are navy blue), so, we almost got lost ha ha After arriving at the place in question, the place was full of cat patients, so we had to wait, although luckily we were able to sit under a shade and observe from outside the other patients being cared for. There was a beautiful orange cat that was there because he couldn't swallow and when they gave him water, he just drool. Turns out he had been fed some bones and one got stuck in his throat, the vet injected him (I guess a tranquilizer or serum) and massaged his throat. They watched and stimulated him for a while, until he eventually proceeded to eat and swallow. Please let this be a lesson: We should not feed our pets bones. Luckily, this was not a scare.

Luego fue el turno de Ikki. Me costó mucho sacarlo del transportador, como siempre, pues es muy miedoso con desconocidos. Le revisaron sus ojitos, sus dientecitos y le cortaron las puntitas de las garras, pues las tenía demasiado afiladas, como agujas (me tiene toda rayada, parezco un crucigrama ja ja). Como es un gato muy grande y gordo, mi novio y yo tuvimos que ayudar a sostenerlo para que uno de los veterinarios le pudiera cortar las uñas sin tanto problema. Aunque claro, a Ikki no le gusta que hagan eso, por suerte, sobrevivimos ja ja

Since he is a very big and fat cat, my boyfriend and I had to help hold him so that one of the vets could cut his nails without much trouble. Although of course, Ikki does not like that they do that, luckily we survived ha ha

Ya en ésta parte, Ikki estaba estresado. Así que intentó por todos los medios de regresar al transportador. Pero evitamos que entrara, pues pone demasiada fuerza para quedarse dentro, así que como pude traté de calmarlo, hablándole lindo como le gusta. Tenía que hacer tiempo mientras que el otro veterinario se desocupaba, pues tiene mayor conocimiento en el tema de las palpaciones. Además había llegado una paciente canina con un bulto en la panza y debía evitar que Ikki la viera para que no aumentara sus pánico.

Already in this part, Ikki was stressed. So he tried by all means to get back to the transporter. But we prevented him from entering, because he puts too much force to stay inside him, so as I could I tried to calm him, talking to him cute as he likes. Por fin llegó el momento esperado: La palpación. El veterinario procedió a palpar a Ikki en su vientre y zonas íntimas, en busca de los testículos, pero por más que palpaba, no encontraba nada. Ikki se estresó mucho cuando le drenó algo en su anito y se puso muy nervioso, tuvimos que agarrarlo entre todos para evitar que se soltara y mientras el veterinario lo limpiaba y desinfectaba. Yo por primera vez tuve algo de miedo, porque era la primera vez que lo veía así. Por lo general, él sólo hace ruidos para que uno se aleje, pero son sólo de advertencia, sin buscar de hacer daño y más porque nos reconoce. Pero en ese momento era mucha gente y quizás se sintió en peligro, hasta le colocaron un trapo en la cabeza. Por suerte, volvimos a salvarnos de ser rebanados pues Ikki ya no tenía sus potentes garras ja ja

At last the expected moment arrived: palpation. The vet proceeded to feel Ikki in his belly and intimate areas, in search of the testicles, but no matter how hard he felt, he could not find anything. Ikki got very stressed when he drained something in his anito and got very nervous, we had to grab it together to prevent it from coming loose and while the vet cleaned and disinfected it. For the first time I was somewhat afraid, because it was the first time I had seen him like this. In general, he only makes noises to get one away, but they are only a warning, without trying to hurt and more because he recognizes us. But at that time there were a lot of people and perhaps he felt in danger, they even put a cloth on his head. Luckily, we were saved from being sliced again because Ikki no longer had his powerful claws ha ha

Acabado ese susto, continuó el caos, pues el veterinario trató de darle la pastilla desparasitante, pero Ikki la rechazó. Esto llevó a varios intentos fallidos en los que el organismo del pobre Ikki reaccionó haciéndolo vomitar 🤢🤮 ¡Mi pobre bebé! Vomitó todas las croquetas que se había comido en la mañana y era bastante. Ante eso, el doctor sólo le inyectó y me dio una jeringa con la pastilla diluida, para que se la diera luego. El pobre Ikki no dejaba de babear.

After that scare, the chaos continued, as the vet tried to give him the deworming pill, but Ikki rejected it. This led to several failed attempts in which poor Ikki's body reacted by making him vomit 🤢🤮 My poor baby! He threw up all the kibbles he had eaten in the morning and it was quite a lot. Before that, the doctor only injected him and gave me a syringe with the diluted pill, so that I could give it to him later. Poor Ikki wouldn't stop drooling.

Lo siguiente fue hablar con los veterinarios sobre sus recomendaciones. Les comenté que había comprado unas gotas de Valeriana, pues había leído en internet que eran buenas para calmar a los gatos y necesitaba saber si podía dárselas. Por suerte, tras leer el contenido, uno de los veterinarios me dijo que, en efecto, no son perjudiciales y que puede ser que lo ayuden a calmarse en las noches, me dio la dosis adecuada, la cual implementaré antes de irnos a dormir. De igual forma, me recomendaron contactarme con el doctor que realiza los ecos y preguntarle si es idóneo llevar a Ikki a realizarse otro eco.

The next thing was to talk to the vets about their recommendations. I told them that he had bought a few drops of Valerian, as he had read on the internet that they were good for calming cats and he needed to know if he could give them to him. Luckily, after reading the content, one of the vets told me that, indeed, they are not harmful and that they may help him calm down at night, he gave me the appropriate dose, which I will implement before going to sleep. Similarly, they recommended that I contact the doctor who performs the echoes and ask him if it is appropriate to take Ikki for another echo.

Soy muy precavida, aproveché de preguntar acerca del costo de la operación de Ikki, en el caso de que los testículos fueran hallados esta vez con el eco. El veterinario no me dio un precio exacto, pero me dijo que la operación oscilaría entre los 80$ y 100$, pues se trata de una cirugía mayor. Esta información me pareció de vital importancia, pues el que me conoce, sabe que llevo desde que me uní a Hive, reuniendo para castrar a mi gato y aunque, debido a su condición no he podido hacerlo, espero que cuando sea el momento, poder contar con el dinero suficiente, tanto como para la operación, como los gastos post operatorios, como analgésicos y antibióticos. Así que, como le he dicho a todos, no me molesta para nada dar todos mis ahorros para que Ikki se sienta mejor y tenga una vida más larga, esto sólo me motiva a esforzarme diariamente en mis publicaciones para estar más cerca de nuestra meta, pues, si no fuera por Hive, Ikki no hubiera podido recibir todas sus atenciones médicas. En verdad, estoy muy agradecida con ésta plataforma por ello 🤗
