¡Hola a todos! Sé que ya pasó Halloween y que sería más acorde hablar de películas navideñas je je pero como estuve dándole prioridad a otras publicaciones, ahorita fue que pude dedicarme a hablar de ésta película, que no es mi favorita, pero puedo verla varias veces si aburrirme. No soy fanática de las animaciones ambientadas a temas de terror, pero cuando vi esta por primera vez hace años, me llamó la atención el concepto y le di una oportunidad. Hace unos días la recordé y tuve deseos de verla, pude conseguirla y después de checarla, creo que merece que le haga esta publicación. Sin más preámbulos, les cuento de que va.

Hi everyone! I know that Halloween is over and that it would be more appropriate to talk about Christmas movies, hehe, but since I was giving priority to other publications, right now I was able to talk about this movie, which is not my favorite, but I can see it several times without getting bored. I'm not a fan of horror-themed animations, but when I first saw this one years ago, I was struck by the concept and gave it a go. A few days ago I remembered it and I wanted to see it, I was able to get it and after checking it, I think it deserves this publication. Without further ado, let me tell you what's going on.

La historia gira en torno de una adolescente llamada Dixie Grim, la cual podría decirse que se encuentra metida en depresión, ante la separación de sus padres, apartándose no sólo de ellos, sino siendo retraída en el colegio, donde le hacen bullyng por su afición a la vestimenta gótica y a la profesión de su padre, quien está a cargo de una funeraria. A pesar de todo, Dixie trata de sobrevivir su vida en el instituto y su padre, quién es un hombre que siempre ve todo desde el lado bueno, hace lo posible por ayudar a su hija en una etapa tan difícil como lo es la adolescencia. El temperamento de Dixie al inicio de la película no es más que sola inconformidad ante todo los cambios que ha tenido que experimentar. Se ve que en el pasado era un chica más alegre, cuando sus padres estaban juntos y nadie se burlaba de ella por sus gustos o por el trabajo de su padre.

The story revolves around a teenager named Dixie Grim, who could be said to be in depression, due to the separation of her parents, withdrawing not only from them, but also being withdrawn at school, where they make her bullyng for his fondness for gothic dress and the profession of his father, who runs a funeral home. Despite everything, Dixie tries to survive her life in high school and her father, who is a man who always sees everything from the bright side, does what he can to help his daughter in a stage as difficult as adolescence. Dixie's temperament at the beginning of the film is nothing more than just dissatisfaction with all the changes she has had to undergo. It is seen that in the past she was a more cheerful girl, when her parents were together and no one made fun of her for her tastes or for her father's work.

Todo ha empeorado desde que la mejor amiga de Dixie, Julia, se ha separado de ella repentinamente. Ese cambio de actitud de la chica la lastima, ya que era la única en el instituto en quién podía apoyarse, echándole la culpa a su padre, por hacerla ver como la chica rara. Otras dos chicas de su clase no dudan en meterse con Dixie a la primera oportunidad, ya sea por el tema de sus ropas o el hecho de que su padre trabaje como funerario. Pero en una ocasión, estas chicas que le hacen bullyng, encuentran la oportunidad de hacerle mucho más daño. A través de engaños, durante un paseo junto a su padre en la feria del pueblo, hacen que Dixie encuentre a la que era su mejor amiga junto a Ray, el chico del que ella estaba enamorada. Aquello es la gota que rebasa al vaso, sale corriendo y tras hallarse con su padre, preocupado ante luce, ella le reclama que todo es su culpa. Corre hacía el bosque en donde recibe un golpe de una rama de un árbol tras romperse, cayendo inconsciente. Cuando despierta lo hace en un cementerio y resulta, que se ha convertido en zombi. Muchas emociones para una sola noche ¿No creen?

Everything has gotten worse since Dixie's best friend, Julia, has suddenly separated from her. That change in the girl's attitude hurts her, since she was the only one in high school that she could lean on, blaming her father for making her look like the weird girl. Two other girls in her class don't hesitate to mess with Dixie at the first opportunity, be it because of her clothes or the fact that her father works as an undertaker. But on one occasion, these girls who bully him find the opportunity to hurt him much more. Through deception, during a walk with her father at the town fair, they make Dixie find her best friend with Ray, the boy she was in love with. That is the last straw, she runs off and after meeting her father, worried about his appearance, she claims that everything is her fault. He runs into the forest where he is hit by a tree branch after breaking, falling unconscious. When he wakes up he does it in a cemetery and it turns out that he has turned into a zombie. Many emotions for just one night, don't you think?

Es en este lugar en donde conoce a Isis una chica momia bastante enérgica muy supersticiosa que hace todo lo posible por ayudar a Dixie, siendo que desea obtener su amistad. Ella le explica todo lo referente al mundo de los zombis y a acompaña en su travesía por volver a casa. Aunque su temperamento, muy opuesto al de la protagonista, hace que la misma tenga ciertos roces al principio con ella. Después de todo, tiene miedo a que vuelvan a lastimarla, como su amiga Julia lo hizo.

It is in this place where he meets Isis a very energetic very superstitious mummy girl who does everything possible to help Dixie, being that she wants to obtain her friendship. She explains everything about the world of zombies to him and accompanies him on his journey to return home. Although her temperament, very opposite to that of the protagonist, makes her have some friction at first with her. After all, she is afraid that they will hurt her again, as her friend Julia did.

Pronto, Dixie conoce a otro personaje, un chico pirata llamado Gonner, con el que llega a tener cierta simpatía. Sin saber que el mismo intenta robarle una pieza que hay dentro de su cinturón, el cual le regaló su madre y resulta que es una llave poderosa que es capaz de conectar el mundo de los vivos con el de los zombis.

Soon, Dixie meets another character, a pirate boy named Gonner, with whom she grows to have some sympathy. Without knowing that he himself tries to steal a piece that is inside his belt, which his mother gave him and it turns out that it is a powerful key that is capable of connecting the world of the living with that of the zombies.

La travesía de Dixie por volver a casa se va volviendo más cuesta arriba al darse cuenta de que Nigreda, un ser maligno que encarna las fuerzas del mal busca de hacerse con los poderes de Azot (creo que así se llama el amuleto), para crear caos en el mundo humano e incitar la supremacía de los zombis. Por lo que está en su mano el evitar que eso ocurra.

Dixie's journey to return home becomes more uphill when she realizes that Nigreda, an evil being who embodies the forces of evil, seeks to gain the powers of Azot (I think that is how called the amulet), to create chaos in the human world and incite the supremacy of the zombies. So it is in your power to prevent that from happening.

La animación no es la mejor y el diseño de los personajes deja mucho que desear (cuestión que mejora mucho en la 2da parte), pero el mensaje que refleja si es claro, la aceptación hacia los demás sin importar el aspecto físico (ni siquiera como huelan ja ja), siendo que al fin y al cabo vamos a acabar todos en el cementerio je je Dixie aprende a convivir con su condición de no muerto y se hace amiga de Isis sin importarle luego su aspecto. Esto la ayuda considerablemente cuando regresa a casa junto a su padre, dándose cuenta de que él siempre ha sido una buena persona y que su trabajo, piense lo que piense la gente, no lo hace peor que nadie. Y lo que es mejor, Dixie aprende por fin a aceptarse a sí misma tal y como es, si tener que cambiar su look, lo que, no solamente la llena de paz interna, sino que hace que todas los aspectos de su vida, no cambien en su totalidad, pero que pueda verlos desde otra perspectiva, una más "llena de vida".

The animation is not the best and the design of the characters leaves much to be desired (a question that improves a lot in the 2nd part), but the message it reflects is clear, the acceptance towards others regardless of physical appearance (not even as they smell ha ha), being that after all we are all going to end up in the cemetery ha ha Dixie learns to live with her undead condition and befriends Isis without caring about her appearance later. This helps her considerably when she returns home to her father, realizing that he has always been a good person and that his job, whatever people think, does not make it worse than anyone else. And what is better, Dixie finally learns to accept herself as she is, without having to change her look, which not only fills her with inner peace, but also makes all aspects of her life not change in their totality, but that I can see them from another perspective, a more "full of life".

Realmente me gustó mucho la enseñanza que tiene la animación y que mantuvieran el aspecto de Dixie, es decir, su look gótico, sin cambiarlo tras "aprender la lección". Pues ciertamente el exterior de las personas no es lo que realmente importa, sino lo que está en su corazón. La recomiendo mucho si eres de las personas que dan oportunidades a las películas sin importar lo bueno o mala que sea la animación, pues, como mencioné, al final lo que importa es el mensaje de trasfondo.

I really liked the teaching that animation has and that they kept the look of Dixie, that is, her gothic look, without changing it after "learning the lesson". For certainly the exterior of the people is not what really matters, but what is in their heart. I highly recommend it if you are one of the people who gives films opportunities no matter how good or bad the animation is, because, as I mentioned, in the end what matters is the background message.

Hace poco me enteré que hay una segunda película de las aventuras de Dixie, llamada "La rebelión zombi", puede ser que en otra ocasión , les hable de ella, aunque por lo visto, la animación mejoró bastante. Para cerrar, les muestro un fanart que hallé en internet sobre Dixie y que me gustó mucho, ya que el personaje en 2D me parece bastante lindo:
