We all know that a democratic government us a government for the people and one chosen by the people out of love ❤️, and due to the person representing the seat as the candidate of choice. So democracy is a government where people vote with willingness, even though it comes with the right to vote . And with this in place, I do not think the government has the right to enforce a law that will compel anyone who does not want to vote to vote .

Making voting compulsory I believe is going overboard in a democratic governance, because a government by the people should not force people over voting as this certainly will turn into a dictatorship. A government where the Army or military are in control, which usually does not even needs voting.

Casting of vote by every citizen during general election, especially that of the Presidential election in a country is one that requires people to come out in mass to vote, but the issue with conducting election where those who are hungry with power knows that the casted votes does not matter, since the election will eventually be rigid. And this is the root of why many people does not want to cone out to vote, knowing that their vote won’t count.

How then can a government enforce law that will make citizens to compulsorily vote? Okay! Lets take it that this can be possible in a government where there is no corruption. Where elections are not rigid. Where a government respects their citizens, knowing the citizens holds the government. And I don’t see a government making voting compulsory in any setting where the people love their leaders , because it won’t be necessary since voting will matter so much to people to come out and choose who they want.

I don’t know how elections are conducted in other countries. And how fair it always turns out, but I tell you that here in my country Nigeria 🇳🇬, its all on another level where things are not done accordingly. Obtaining a voters card is one issue, whereby long queues can take the whole day to be attended to. Then, on the day of the election, those who has made up their mind to vote will leave home early to join some long queues, which afterwards, their vote will not count because the government only conduct elections for formalities, having the intention to rig the election.

I was not able to obtain my voters card before the last election because of the stress involved. It’s either the machine is bad or some long queues you can not stand. And knowing how my country are not willing to conduct a an election that will be free and fair, I have long removed my mind in wanting to go for voting. So its a big problem when things are not working in a government.

In all, you can never mandate people to vote during election unless in a government where things are working properly. As this will help benefit everyone, since when there are larger turn out during election, a good candidate must surely be voted for , who eventually makes things better for citizens of the country. So the enforcement in this aspect really will matter and benefit citizens. Good government wins citizens hearts ♥️ easily.
