“ENGLISH”

Doña Rosa was a woman of good manners, but without any education, which was not an obstacle to demonstrate her good behavior in any environment where she was.

Since she was a child she was raised in the Christian fundamentals, which is why her behavior was always conditioned to the social conventions of the town where she was born.

As a young and beautiful 17 year old teenager, she married a merchant who used to visit most of the vendors of the place, and as soon as she saw him she felt love at first sight.

He was a serious and almost inexpressive man, a little macho, so he succumbed to the charms of a young and blameless maiden, at the same time he guaranteed her a secure future and some economic stability necessary to start a family.

Every day that passed she felt submissive to her husband because he was the main provider of the household and she had to quietly endure constant extramarital affairs, take orders and yet it was her moral duty to behave before society because she had made a "covenant before the law of man and God of a forever", she was also convinced that if she fled or moved away, her husband was going to leave her children economically helpless, in the same way that hypothesis she could never prove it because she never took the step and the decision was never taken, so she will never know if she would actually be punished through her lineage for daringly rebelling against that yoke.

Years went by and they both got older and that gruff man was softening with the years, he was getting softer with the arrival of his grandchildren. He was a great grandfather, sweet and loving, so distant from that cold man he was in his youth, is that no one knew the dark cloud that also covered his life during his childhood. For everything perhaps there is an explanation .

The lady in question, the one who was incapable of breaking with the stigmas and of staining herself with the "dishonor of divorce", that unbowed and unblemished woman became a woman who hardly smiled, who showed little folded gestures of affection.

Now the roles were reversed and it seemed that later in old age she charged and retaliated for every rudeness received in her youth by her husband.

She ignored him, rolled her eyes every time she passed him, spoke to her with contempt and raised her voice at each stumble of her already clumsy aged body, and thus she spent the last years of her life, sitting in her rocking chair with her gray hair finely collected and constantly repeating to each of her granddaughters: "study, study my daughters so that they never depend financially on a man", while Don Bautista looked at her in silence.
