Wretched

The place was mesmerizing. And why wouldn't it be? The cliff, endless terrain on sight, the sun going down at her right and the soothing wind that was blowing her hair away. But she saw none of that; as if she was there and her being was somewhere else; the tears in her eyes didn't help much to see anything either. She was preoccupied by her own thoughts to enjoy the heavenly sight right in front of her. She was looking straight ahead; not sure where she was looking or even if she was looking or searching. She wasn't present.

In between...

She was stuck...

It looked almost like a limbo; the place she was in, the place she found herself in. She wanted answers but what were the questions she wanted so desperately to ask, she hadn't figured out yet. Her life had never been easy. You might be thinking her life was probably out of those so called fairy tales where the girl had to fight for her life; maybe somewhat it was. At that moment, she wasn't sure if her life was one of the old wives' tales or was it a Greek tragedy, but it surely sounded like one. But she had hoped; that was before.

Her life made her tired; the endless fight with her fate had proved to be fruitless. This enchanting view had failed to put her in a better place, rather she was looking at it as a way out. A way out, out of every pain, an escape from every suffering. She dropped her gaze in an attempt to measure the depth. Perhaps a good place to end it all.

A walking, talking, live voodoo doll, that's what she felt like or that was what she was forced to feel. She couldn't figure out why she was born to be cursed but she never failed to damn her luck or the moment she was born everyday. It was as if a dark cloud hung over her all the time. Death followed her throughout her life. Every single day she tried her best to have at least one normal day where she wasn't chastised but that never happened. Even then, she held onto hope that someday maybe things will change for the better but the possibility of it was diminutive.

Cursed

Evil

A bad omen

The voices resonate in her ears, the words that stuck at the back of her mind. For as long as she remembered, everyone called her those things, the only exception was her father. He was always there to pick her up when anyone pushed her down. The cruelty of her damned fate didn't even let her only support to stick around long enough. They told him that the girl would be the death of him but like a good father, he always avoided all those nuisances. Whether or not she caused it but death came knocking at their door. She was left alone to face the vicious world all by herself. Her rock was gone, her beloved father taken away. She had nothing to live for; only the reasons to die for remains and they were piling.

Jump!!!

There was no point of carrying on with this wretched life anymore. When has it ever been so easy to take your own life! She sobbed louder, closing her eyes, and dropped down on her knees. Despair and desperation engulfed her as she tried bringing herself to come to terms to whether she should join her father or she steps back to start over. Whatever hope she had was blown away. In sheer helplessness she raised her chin to face the sky as if to question the gods one last time, maybe they'd answer her this time.

Food for thought. Suicide is never the way out.
