ENGLISH

On June 24, 1821, the Liberating Army of Venezuela, under the command of General Simón Bolívar, fought on the Carabobo Field one of the bloodiest and most bloody battles in the long war for the independence of the American continent. That day in the afternoon, the liberating troops managed to corner in a valley the Royalist Army that defended the rights of Spain over the colonized territories, it is believed that on their way through the different paths that led them to this unexpected end, the Spanish soldiers stole and plundered great wealth from the haciendas, houses and localities, of which they presumed were opponents seeking freedom. However, historical records have no information on the discovery of these riches after the battle, so over time, many legends have arisen around the so-called Cursed Gold of Miguel de La Torre.

More than 200 years have passed since those events, framed within the magical superstitions of the night of San Juan, an ancestral space in which it is thought that the veil that separates the world of the living from that of the dead becomes thinner, allowing the devil himself to walk the earth, in search of collecting souls for hell who are in distress, or willing to make a pact.

The investigator of the paranormal Antonio Martinez is almost certain that in the final moments of the combat, while the night was deepening, hiding under its cloak the retreat of the survivors of the army of Spain towards the lands of Puerto Cabello, a desperate Royalist General executed a pact with the Prince of Darkness in the crossroads, a space near the well-known Pica de la Mona. The agreement would seek to protect the gold with a magical burial, which would allow him in exchange for his soul, to return later to look for it, an action that would never materialize, after consolidating the independence of Venezuela and the surrender of all Spanish troops, leaving his soul tied for eternity to this land by the greed of looking for the gold, not being able to be claimed by hell, until the treasure is discovered and returned to Spain.

A kind of empirical archaeological investigation was carried out this year to try to prove the veracity of this legend that over the years has become much stronger, after thousands of reports of sightings in the surroundings of the holy field, where the Arch of Independence stands today. Perhaps one of the most reliable documents is a military report made by the watchmen at the tomb of the unknown soldier, one of the monuments where army recruits stand guard 24 hours a day. According to the logbook, the wailing of a soul in pain can be heard there along with the dragging of chains, others speak of the galloping of horses and even the presence of a sphere of light moving through the vegetation of the savannah.

Treasure hunters believe that this luminous orb may be the unequivocal indication of the presence of buried gold since religious traditions assure that gold protected by an evil spell glows in certain circumstances or dates to give away its location. Antonio Martinez together with a team of 3 other people, arrives at the surroundings of Camp of Carabobo just when the sun goes down, to set up a bonfire in honor of San Juan, with the hope of being able to record evidence of the existence of paranormal manifestations, adding, of course, the intentions of finding the supposed burial lost in the corners of history.

After stoking the fire until late at night, fatigue gradually began to manifest itself in the members of the group, they were mostly very young boys who were just looking to have fun in a night adventure, without being very convinced of the paranormal facts, in which the leader of the group did believe faithfully, convinced that the story was totally real. While his students fell asleep, Martinez decided to venture out into the darkness, orienting himself with the old maps towards the so-called Pica de la Mona, illuminated only with an improvised torch that he took from the campfire, After about 20 minutes of walking, suddenly a very cold breeze was present, along with a whistle that faded in the wind blowing in the great plain, as if it were a murmur that entered the deepest part of his being in the form of a shiver that ran through his body.

However, despite the fear that this event caused him, he decided to discard it and continue making his way through the vegetation, a few meters ahead a distant voice was heard again as an echo, it was undoubtedly the lament of which so much was told in the writings, something that put all his senses on alert, knowing that he was literally in the middle of nowhere, at the mercy of whatever was manifesting itself. It was then that he began to observe in the depths a sparkling light that at first he hesitated to follow, but the greed to find the treasure overthrew any kind of demure to go in search of it. But something immediately curbed his impulse, among the darkness behind the dry trunk of a tree, the semi-transparent silhouette of the specter of a ragged-looking man began to loom and gave him a warning, which made him reflect and completely changed his life forever. "If you continue to advance, the fever for that cursed gold will corrode your soul, until hell consumes you and only ashes become your dreams and life itself.”

It's a great story. If this was a true tale I think a lot of treasure hunters would search for this gold. Even if it was cursed.🚬😎

Hello thank you for reading this story, certainly the historical context of the events is totally real, it was the product of an investigation that I made in multiple sources, in fact I have had the opportunity to visit the site on several occasions. However, the legend of the treasure is a totally fictitious argument that I created as a tribute to the heroes of our independence.
