Myriostoma coliforme

A very rare mushroom, the star mushroom, which is protected as an endangered species in Europe.

It was recorded in 20 countries, and only in 155 localities. I believe it's lucky since it's not edible, otherwise we wouldn't find it anymore.

It is on the red list of endangered mushrooms in Europe....

This is the biggest specimen I've come across.... It's just a shame that it got in the way of some deer....
You could see a lot of tracks right there...
I was surprised how many of them I came across, in a couple of places..

It grows in symbiosis with acacia and on sandy terrain. In Serbia, it was found on Ada Ciganlija and Gornjačka gorge, in Deliblatska peščara 40 years ago.
I came across it a couple of years ago and it is available in several locations.
Always unexpected, and always in other places...

This is also the first time I have seen a starfish with a dark cap..almost black... They are usually brownish in color, from light to dark....Depends on how fresh they are....

I do not spread my discovery, I am of the opinion that nature protects itself. If no one but me comes across this mushroom, and they think that it doesn't exist in this area... Let it be that way....
This confirms my opinion that the Deliblat Sandstone is more mysterious than I thought.....

These mushrooms are interesting to me because they remind me of some dry flowers... And sometimes of sand jellyfish....

They are so black that I find them unusual.. And as if they are some other species....

Here are a few of them, irregularly placed..displaced by passing wild animals....

Here is the path we were walking along, and at the edge of the forest we came across these mushrooms....

When nature is not overly disturbed, it recovers in no time....
I like to walk here, although there are more people now than before... However, the most likely thing is that I will be alone in the forest...
