Violets, one of the first flowers of spring.

Violets occupy an important place in myths and legends...And there are several interesting interpretations...

"Violets are flowers known since the early days of human civilization. In some cultures, they were a symbol of death, mourning and nostalgia for the departed. The ancient Romans, for example, carried bouquets of violets to the graves of their loved ones, wishing them to rest in peace. In addition, according to some legends, it was believed that violets can grow on the graves of saints and virgins."

Athens has an interesting name... "the city crowned with violets" and according to legend, the founder of Athens led his people to Attica, when they arrived there they were greeted by water nymphs, who gave him violets as a sign of their good wishes. Only later these flowers becomes the emblem of the city... And since then, no house, altar or wedding in Athens has been without a violet...

"In one of the myths, it is said that the purple color of this flower was created thanks to Venus, the Roman goddess of love, beauty and fertility. Namely, she turned a group of girls into violets out of anger towards her son Cupid, because he thought they were more beautiful than his mother ."

Because of to the specific flower that resembles a heart, they are a symbol of love, and the intoxicating fragrance is a symbol of tenderness and sophistication....

The first four photos show my violets under the cherry tree...
And these last three I found in the forest, Deliblatske peščara... Along the road we walked, violets decorated the edges of the forest, wild and intoxicatingly fragrant. If it was a sunny day, they would smell even stronger...

A walk in the forest in spring can surprise me, like this time...
I haven't seen so many violets in recent years....if it had been a sunny day, I believe I would have taken many more photos...but that's why the walk was a real pleasure...
