I got an awesome invite for a job interview at a big company. I was excited but also very nervous because I didn't want to blow it. I had everything ready, my resume looked great, my suit was tidy, and I had practiced answering interview questions a lot. Things were going well, or so I thought.
On the day of the interview, I woke up early to make sure I had enough time to get ready and reach the company's office on time. My interview was scheduled for 10 AM, and I left home at somewhere 8:15 AM, feeling confident. Little did I know, something funny and memorable was about to happen.
I wanted to grab a coffee to stay alert. Coffee is like magic when you need a boost. I found a nice café just around the corner from the company's office. The smell of fresh coffee was inviting, and I ordered a cup. The barista gave me a hot coffee with a lid to avoid spills. Feeling like a winner, I took my coffee and started walking towards the door. But then, disaster struck.
As I tried to leave, my briefcase got stuck in the door handle. In a split second, my coffee turned from a source of comfort to a potential disaster. The lid came off, and hot coffee started pouring out, heading straight for my clean blue shirt. To avoid getting soaked, I twisted and turned in weird ways. I must have looked like someone doing a funny dance without a DJ. But the coffee had its own plan. It splashed all over me - my shirt, my tie, and even my face. I was like a character from a slapstick comedy.
I hurried back into the café, my shirt dripping with coffee, feeling embarrassed. The barista offered me some paper towels. I tried to clean up the mess, but it felt like it took forever. My interview time was ticking away, and I was in a hurry. I could only imagine what the interviewers would think when they saw me looking like a coffee-soaked mess.
After what felt like a long time, I managed to make myself look presentable enough to continue to the interview. By the time I reached the company's office, I was running late, feeling frustrated, and still smelling like a bathed with a coffee soap. It was not the calm and confident image I had in mind.
Surprisingly, I explained my coffee accident to the interviewers, and they chuckled. They found it funny and shared their own funny stories of unexpected messes. They made me understand that everyone one goes through such experiences sometimes in their lives.
Well, as you would have guessed, I didn't get the job, but I'll always remember this interview as a comedy of errors. It taught me that life can throw unexpected surprises at you, and sometimes, all you can do is laugh it off. I also learned to be extra careful with coffee, especially on important days, and I'll never use my briefcase as a coffee cup holder again.
Oh so sorry bro for that unfortunate thing. And thanks for the advice, I will also handle my coffee very well.
Yeah, I now use both hands😂😂😂
Had trouble with catarrh during my last interview, it was a battle between trying to keep a straight face and not blowing my nose.
Luckily they didn't seem to mind too and I felt more comfortable.
Wow then you were in luck, did you get the job?
