Burn the Witch 🧹, dragons and fairy tales. ✨ —eng/esp

Buenos días, tardes y noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo se encuentran? Espero que muy bien. Creo que esta vez me he pasado, mi lista de animes pendientes es muy extensa y llevo cargando conmigo animes de hace muchos años que no he visto por falta de tiempo o porque se me olvidan, además de que no me gusta ver animes en emisión (me gusta ver todo el anime de golpe) provocando que después pierda el nombre o el interés del momento (además de que no voy anotando nada) y ya no sepa de la existencia del mismo hasta que vea una imagen o un vídeo refrescándome la memoria. Esto mismo me ocurrió con Burn the Witch, un anime basado en un manga escrito por el mismísimo Tite Kubo, el creador de Bleach, tengo entendido que tenía años sin publicar nada, hizo un one-shot que llamó la atención de todo el mundo debido a su regreso por lo tanto no le quedó más de otra que continuarlo, sacando cuatro capítulos más que se consideran como la primera temporada de este nuevo manga, esto fue adaptado a animación justo cuando se dió por finalizada esa "temporada" gracias a Studio Colorido, un estudio relativamente nuevo pero que a mí consideración logró hacer en este caso una adaptación magistral. El hacer este anime de forma tan rápida saliendo casi que a la par del manga le dió mucha más exposición a esta obra y tengo entendido que este año tendremos nuevo contenido, así que sin más dilación hablemos sobre Burn the Witch.

I think this time I went too far, my list of pending animes is very extensive and I have been carrying animes from many years ago that I have not seen because of lack of time or because I forget them, in addition to that I do not like to see animes in emission (I like to see all the anime at once) causing me to then lose the name or the interest of the moment (in addition to that I do not take anything) and I will not know of its existence until I see an image or a video refreshing my memory. This same thing happened to me with Burn the Witch, an anime based on a manga written by the very Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, I understand that he had not published anything for years, he made a one-shot that caught the attention of the world due to his return so he had no choice but to continue it, taking four more chapters that are considered as the first season of this new manga, this was adapted to animation just when it was given for finished that "season" thanks to Studio Colorido, a relatively new studio but in my opinion managed to make in this case a masterful adaptation. The making of this anime so quickly coming out almost at the same time as the manga gave it much more exposure to this work and I understand that this year we will have new content, so without further ado let's talk about Burn the Witch.

El anime nos presenta un Londres mágico donde los dragones son la principal causa de asesinatos. Estos seres mitológicos no pueden ser vistos por cualquiera, solo aquellas personas que tengan poder mágico serán capaz de hacerlo, dichas personas son entrenadas para lidear con los dragones en cuestión, habiendo varias organizaciones encargadas de éstos pero con distintos métodos (algunos más agresivos que otros), aunque la que más nos incumbe a nosotros como espectadores es la de Wing Bing, que se encarga principalmente de contener y controlar a los dragones para que no causen daño a las personas y a la ciudad, en esa organización es donde trabajarán nuestras dos protagonistas Noel y Ninny, quienes deberán hacer misiones para ir obteniendo dinero e ir subiendo (o bajando) su puntaje que les permitirá el ascenso a un nuevo puesto (aunque a Noel le interesa más que nada el dinero). Cabe resaltar la existencia de dos mundos, el Front London donde la magia no parece existir y el Reverse London, lugar donde todos tienen conocimiento acerca de la magia y donde más se llegan a ver los dragones, obviamente nuestras protagonista ejercen su trabajo en Reverse London aunque fácilmente pueden hacer su vida en Front London, trabajando y ganando dinero. Noel y Ninny nos mantendrán cautivados mientras vemos cómo se enfrentan a imponentes dragones mientras a su vez intentan cuidar la ciudad, todo esto en tan solo 3 capítulos.

The anime presents us with a magical London where dragons are the main cause of murders. These mythical creatures can't be seen by just anyone, only those people who have magical power will be able to do it, those people are trained to deal with the dragons in question, with there being various organizations in charge of them but with different methods (some more aggressive than others), although the one that concerns us the most as viewers is Wing Bing's, which is mainly in charge of containing and controlling dragons so they don't cause damage to people and the city, that's where our two protagonists Noel and Ninny will work, who will have to do missions to get money and raise (or lower) their score which will allow them to be promoted to a new position (although Noel is mostly interested in the money). It's worth mentioning the existence of two worlds, Front London where magic doesn't seem to exist and Reverse London, the place where everyone has knowledge about magic and where dragons are seen the most, obviously our protagonists exercise their job in Reverse London but they can easily live their lives in Front London, working and making money. Noel and Ninny will keep us captivated as we see them face off against imposing dragons while also trying to take care of the city, all of this in just 3 episodes.

Comenzando hay una clara declaración de intenciones, se comienza con una frase que intenta llamar la atención del espectador y que en cierta forma nos da pistas hacia el rumbo en el que puede tomar la obra, el diálogo en cuestión nos dice que los cuentos de hadas son un sin sentido, la magia solo dura un rato pero después a cierta hora desaparece y aún así todas quieren ser princesas. Aún así, si vemos de cierta forma, debido al carácter mágico que tiene Burn the Witch, estamos ante un cuento de hadas pero al estilo de Tite Kubo, donde se nos ofrecerá una clara pregunta que nuestras protagonistas deberán resolver conforme transcurre la aventura, ¿es tan valiosa la vida de un humano como la de un dragón? Podrás pensar que los dragones son inherentemente malos pero estás equivocado, hay personas que están poseídas por los mismos y técnicamente pasan a ser dragones, ¿vale la pena la vida de estas personas? ¿Es necesario cuidarlos? Total Noel y Ninny viven de cuidar dragones y proteger a los ciudadanos de los mismos, deben ser capaces de elegir. Nada de esto se podría desarrollar sin la existencia de unos de los personajes más coloridos y buen definidos que he podido ver, comenzando con nuestras protagonistas que fácilmente cada quién tendrá a su favorita al tener dos personalidades totalmente opuestas pero es que no se queda ahí, tenemos personajes como Balgo, el humano poseído por un dragón y otros de carácter imponente como Bruno, quién hace todo lo posible para cumplir su objetivo. Un verdadero logro el que puedan definir y caracterizar a ciertos personajes en tan poco tiempo.

Even so, if we see it in a certain way, due to the magical character that Burn the Witch has, we are before a fairy tale but in the style of Tite Kubo, where we will be offered a clear question that our protagonists will have to solve as the adventure progresses, is the life of a human being as valuable as that of a dragon? You may think that dragons are inherently bad but you are wrong, there are people who are possessed by them and technically they become dragons, is the life of these people worth it? Is it necessary to take care of them? Noel and Ninny live on taking care of dragons and protecting citizens from them, they must be able to choose. None of this could be developed without the existence of some of the most colorful and well-defined characters I have ever seen, starting with our protagonists who easily each will have their favorite by having two totally opposite personalities but that's not all, we have characters like Balgo, the human possessed by a dragon and others of an imposing character like Bruno, who does everything possible to fulfill his goal. A true achievement that they can define and characterize certain characters in such a short time.

A pesar de todas las cosas buenas que es la gran mayoría, hay ciertas cosas malas que evidentemente hay que resaltar y es que representan un gran problema para el espectador siendo un inconveniente causado por las costumbres ya heredadas de Tite Kubo, el problema en cuestión es la gran cantidad de incógnitas que se llegan a generar y de la cuál quizás no tengamos respuesta en muchísimo tiempo, este defecto en la manera de narrar esta obra proviene evidentemente de Bleach, el señor Kubo está acostumbrado en la escritura de un mundo denso y muy rico en elementos por explorar, eso también se ve acá pero resulta siendo más bien un inconveniente, aunque conforme pasen los años y vayan saliendo "temporadas" puede que se nos aclaren poco a poco nuestras dudas, yo por ejemplo tengo muchísimas, es lo que tiene hacer una obra de 60 minutos de duración. Regresando a los aspectos buenos de Burn the Witch, hay que apreciar en todos los sentidos el excelente trabajo que hizo el estudio de animación, otorgándonos un producto de extrema calidad, con una ambientación que te llega a atrapar desde el primer momento y que además tiene una paleta de colores que es perfecta, si luego tenemos que hablar de las peleas con los dragones y todo ese ambiente urbano que consiguieron transmitir no terminamos nunca, un excelente trabajo de principio a fin. En fin, si eres fan de Bleach o si quieres ver algo relativamente corto, te recomiendo este anime.

Returning to the good aspects of Burn the Witch, we must appreciate in all senses the excellent work done by the animation studio, giving us an extremely high quality product, with an atmosphere that catches you from the first moment and that also has a perfect color palette, if then we have to talk about the fights with the dragons and all that urban environment that they managed to convey we never finish, an excellent job from start to finish. In short, if you are a fan of Bleach or if you want to see something relatively short, I recommend this anime.
