MY LATE NIGHTS ESCAPADES

avatar

Personally, I don't enjoy compromising my restful sleep by staying up all night. After the stress of the day, I think that's the only time I get to relax my brain during the day. As a result, I wouldn't want to endanger my health by depriving myself of sleep.

I'm the kind of guy who never takes siesta because I always ask myself, "Why should I be sleeping in the afternoon when I might be doing something useful?" Moreover, I have plenty of time at night to sleep. My father truly detests taking afternoon naps, save for when he is ill, thus I believe I inherited that mentality from him.

As I became older, I came to understand that even the working hours of the day aren't sufficient anymore, therefore I now find myself using my relaxation time for work.

When I was in my first year of college and getting ready for my first semester examinations, I can still clearly recall how, despite reading and studying all day, we still discovered that there was a lot left to learn and that we would need to undertake "night class”.

Night class is when we come together to do some sort of group reading, picking someone that knows the course better to teach the rest of us throughout the night. Like, I mean, we do have the night class from, like, 11 p.m. until 4 a.m.

This night class is mostly done on the school campus; during the exam period, lecture halls are always open 24/7 for students to come around to prepare for their exams.

So I would sacrifice my sleep throughout the exam period, with little or no sleep. Now you would be wondering how I was able to do that, right!?

So this is it: during the day I try as much as possible to conserve my energy, that is, I do not play too much, because of course who would be playing during exam period? Also, I try not to eat something heavy, so I’m always on cereal and beverages, just to keep my brain active.

After doing that, I find it nearly impossible to fall asleep during the night class. So I’m able to grasp whatever it is I’m reading and have been taught by my tutor.

One other thing that helped me was "determination." I was determined to have a 4.5 to 5.0 GPA (grade point average) at the end of the semester. So that mindset kept me on my toes, reading day and night for the exams.

I have a lot of friends who were taking different kinds of drinks to prevent them from sleeping during the night classes. I really do not find it important to me because I don’t think there’s any drink that can keep me from sleeping.

As a result of that, I had to come up with another alternative, which I mentioned earlier in this blog. Over the years, my body has been able to adapt to this new alternative so much that I no longer find it hard to stay up all night whenever I have pressing needs to attend to.

When I first started posting on HIVE, it became clear to me that the day was not long enough for me to produce fresh content and design thumbnails. As a result, I began working late into the night. I've started to consider it the norm, hehe.

Should I say that Hive has become my new addiction or that Hive has helped me find my intrinsic passion for writing and producing creative content? If you were to ask me, I would say that this is a pretty healthy addiction since it allows me to gain a lot of knowledge and view the world from various angles through the viewpoints of others.

Hmmmm Indeed determination is the key and you were able to do all this all time late night works because you already thought your body to adapt too late night work but I can bet you if you hadn't thought your body. You will never escape the wrath of sleep lol 🤣🤣🤣..

We need to train our body to adapt to some certain things and then we can be good.
Thank you for this beautiful post 💲💥💥

It's hard to stay up at night sometimes but it's a good thing you found a remedy for it.

Sleep was never my thing as kid. I used to think it was a waste of time too. But now the case is very much reversed. I sleep like a cow now. I guess it comes with age; feeling exhausted from the ton of work to do on most days.

I, however, know how to keep myself awake for a long time at night. It depends if it's requried. In the case of night-classes, my mind would note to itself that all the reading in the semester may very well go to waste if I do not take the night to revise and refresh my memory. That way my mindset is, you know, set.

Keeping my mind ready is not always enough. I'd have to preper some ritual drink...just kidding... some mixture of a carbonated drink, mostly Mirinda (for it's sweet orange flavor), and dry coffee. That usually knocks the sleep away for as long as necessary.

Yeah exactly! We've grown now with lots of responsibilities to attend to which require more of our time.

It's a good thing you didn't take any drinks to help you stay awake at night. It'll only be bad for your health.

You can say that again! Research has it that too much of 'caffeine' drinks is hazardous to the health!

That's why I had to resolve to a much better alternative.

True no jokes with night sleep o because the body needs it but I don't see anything wrong with afternoon sleep if your free and have nothing doing it can also sleep at noon😌

Even me sef, I do not see 24 hours being enough for someone again. The day isn´t enough to cover everything, so why won´t we sacrifice the night, at least some hours? A student who wants to get the highest CGPA would think twice and know waking up at night would help too.

Wow... Your body has indeed adapted to it, and that is just great. Getting there was not easy, I'm sure. But it's all for the goal.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
