Yummy meal

Today, I dared to prepare a different dish to break the fast: mushroom and olive vol-au-vent. I'm not sure if vol-au-vent is truly a traditional dish. Do you know which country came up with the idea of creating them first?

A quick Google search should shed some light. Apparently, it's of French origin, and this puff pastry has been around for a couple of centuries, quite astonishing.

I didn't realize I had prepared a French dish.

Every culture influences the other, and each borrows gastronomic elements from one another. It's a fusion of cultures.

The filling, as you can see in the photo, consists of mushrooms, chicken, and olives. Everyone enjoyed it, and the kids didn't complain. They didn't ask for their burgers or tacos.

Sometimes, you have to introduce them to new dishes; they'll eventually develop a taste for new flavors, it's just a matter of time.

And I wonder what I should prepare for tomorrow to mix things up. I often run out of ideas, and I believe in taking one day at a time. Tomorrow, we'll see. Maybe I'll call a few friends to exchange recipes.

And amidst all this, we mustn't forget the spiritual aspect of this sacred month. While indulging in delicious food is enjoyable, the spiritual aspect is important too.
