Waiting for zephyr in this extremely hot summer

A few days ago, I went to the university to pick up my sisters; I don't usually go there, but this time I had to.The intensity of the heat is extreme this time.

This intense heat troubles everyone, yet the weather occasionally improves, and rain falls from time to time.

When the weather is pleasant, one's mood lifts, and one feels wonderful. You can see how beautiful clouds spread across the sky.

This is the Government College University of Faisalabad and I don't like this city at all because it becomes crazily hot in the summer weather. Since Faisalabad is an industrial city, it tends to get very hot, and the urban heat effect is significant here.

I'm not a fan of modern architecture at all. I just feel like I see concrete walls everywhere. These concrete walls have significantly intensified the heat effect.Traditional architecture, constructed from mud and clay, was highly durable and eco-friendly.Houses made of mud and clay used to generate less heat in this area, whereas concrete walls significantly intensify the heat effect.

Let’s set aside the matter of the architecture—what’s done is done—but even the trees were not spared; they were cut down and used to manufacture essential items.A gradual decline in the number of trees is evident in Pakistan.Forest cover in Pakistan stands at up to 5 percent, whereas international standards require it to be 25 percent; in this regard, Pakistan is a forest-poor country.

As I pass by the trees, I find myself thinking so much—about the trees, about the environment; and lately, I have been thinking a great deal about the environment. If I were to tell you about last year, I had climate anxiety. I felt like the temperature in my area was too high. Interestingly, i was reluctant to walk out due to sun and i was horrified by the heat waves and heat strokes.

As evening falls, the weather begins to cool down and starts to feel pleasant. And that same evening, we all returned from Faisalabad—a city that seems extremely hot.

A powerful reminder of how modern urban design and deforestation directly impact both our daily physical comfort and our mental well-being.
