Making Money In A Free Market

avatar

Every week or two, we complain about the almost countless money problems we have. Most of them border around the lack of it. We're unable to make ends meet.

But the thing is that we live in relative prosperity admist the systemic problems we're experiencing. So why or what's the disconnect?

My supposition is that (1) this prosperity isn't able to spread far and wide yet. And (2) we're still operating from an old mindset that is no longer relevant today.

It's almost obvious that prosperity by itself will not spread far and wide. Not everyone will want for it to spread far and wide and some will argue that it is not even possible.

But I believe that it's in our own personal best interest that prosperity spreads to many places. Shedding away the old mindset will require a change in standpoint, from reactive to proactive.

Free Markets

Free markets are markets that are loosely regulated or unregulated by the government. An economic system that is free from government intervention.

At a glance, the drawbacks seems large. What's not controlled will be out of control. Bullies can enter the market and monopolized it, raising the barrier of entry. Little to no stability. Wealth and income inequality will be apparent.

This is all valid and true. But we often miss the fact that it is not stagnant. These drawbacks are constantly tilting from one end to another. It doesn't mean we should wait and bade our time to let things change.

Rather, it means that there are ways to upend the stagnancy to gain an economic advantage in a free market. One of them being innovation.

At the basic level, free markets foster innovation and competition. An example is online marketplaces that operate under free market principles. Sellers are allowed to set their prices and buyers can compare options and make purchasing decisions based on their preferences or budget. In this situation both parties win and the one who's more innovative takes most of the bag(seller side).

The technology industry is also another example. Tech companies can create their own pricing, production methods, and business strategies. The basis with free markets is that any entity, big or small, is given the opportunity to meet consumer demands and provide value.

Believe it or not, free markets are one of the main contributors to economic prosperity. The internet is probably the biggest free market currently.

Making Money

Anyone can make money in a free market. One is only limited by their inability to innovate and beat competition. Granted, not everyone is well positioned to innovate. But I think anyone can provide value in their own unique ways.

At any point, there is a an unbalanced supply and demand. And all the money is made on the difference. With innovation, we're simply modifying the supply and demand to be favourable to us.

But that's not all, each innovation has the potential to also expand the market, giving us a bigger pie to work with.

So why it is in our best interest that prosperity spreads to many places? My answer is that we're better off when many people succeed because it reduces a lot of friction and we can do more overall. What's yours?

I also think the more people succeed the better it is for all, especially the middle class where one person's success often have a lot of dependents seeking for assistance thereby creppling the one trying to be more successful.

I do agree there are lots of opportunities around, we have to be consistently innovative at them to derive the benefits.

Yes, that's a very good example. If one is successful and their friends and family are also successful, and also their neighbors. Then a lot of dependency will be removed and the successful person can solely focus on reaching their highest potential.

Absolutely, cultivating the ability to be innovative is a bit hard but constant pursuit of relevant knowledge can help. Gives the mind more ingredients to work with :)

There was something I read. Despite the fact that all services and products seems to be provided, there is always a place for one more. So, despite the competition, there is always a place for one more person with better innovation and value.

This is very true! There's always a gap to fill. We just have to figure out what it is and fill it in the best way that we can.

those prosperous dont want others to be, and those that are not are too afraid to prosper, can you elaborate more on the simple market with simple English of course didnt quite understand your point on the post

Yes, sometimes it's takes courage to prosper.

Think of free markets like a democracy in a country. By the people, for the people and if the people. Anyone can do whatever they want to do as long as they don't violate the set laws. The same thing is it with free markets but in this case, the people are the buyers and sellers. You can set your own price and I can choose whether I'll buy it at that price or not and vice versa.

Hope this one is simple enough?

Yes basically. It's easier to make money in free markets than general markets. The same old methods on general markets will have to be adjusted in a free market.

It's almost obvious that prosperity by itself will not spread far and wide. Not everyone will want for it to spread far and wide and some will argue that it is not even possible.

According to the Bible, there is no prayer for prosperity but there is a principle for it and it is simple

Give it shall be given unto you.

Whatever you give out that is what you will get in return. Never forget when you give out little the harvest will also be little but when you give out plenty you will harvest multiple.
Many will never get this prosperity because they can't take risks.
Life itself is a risk.

Nice post. Though your points are not clearly stated

Yes, that's another way of looking at it. The more good we do the more we tend to receive. It's a universal law.
This is very true, many are just scared to go out of their comfort zone and explore the unknown even if it promises them a better life.

Thanks for the feedback and thank you for stopping by again :)

In recent times people are still failing to recognise the importance of convergence in business, we are now in a digital world which means strategies for business is no longer rigid but flexible.

The reason behind a lot of people complaining is because they fail to take advantage of evolving society because old ways are no longer applicable.

Rightly said! This flexibility is what many people lack especially the old schools. The landscape has completely been altered by the digital world and we must adapt to its ways.

Complainers want things to be the same like before were everything was easy. We have to learn to get out of our comfort zones and explore new ways to thrive.

Many thanks for stopping by from #dreemport :)

Free market gives opportunity for any one to come in and sell without the hastles of joining a trade union and all that. I was wondering if there free markets again until I saw where you mentioned the internet. Surely, everyone is permitted to sell there and a lot are finding great income doing businesses online. Nice.

Yes, you understand it well. There's little to no hassle in trading on free markets. Through innovation and providing value anyone can gain a market share and make their own money. The internet has really unlocked many free markets and made it so much easier for anyone to get started in creating online businesses.

Thank you for this, I am tuned to concur with your ideology of prosperity in the free market especially when one is able to handle the pros and cons, the bullies and the monopolies

Yes, there's more leeway to do tackle all these problems and come out on top. Innovation is main driving force to thrive in a free market. Too big to fail is also just a myth.
