[ENG/ESP] A Friday of work, scenery, and preparations for Saturday
Happy Saturday! I sincerely hope you’re enjoying your day, whether you’re working, relaxing, or spending time with your loved ones. Today I’m at the Parque Costa Azul shopping center to change the filter cartridges—a job that requires patience and attention to detail—but I’ll tell you all about how the day went later on. For now, I want to share with you how our Friday went—a day that began with glorious weather, intense heat, and landscapes that looked as if they’d been hand-painted by a master artist.
We left home a little later than usual, since the day’s schedule was simple: visit the Wyndham Concorde Hotel to carry out our routine chlorination and disinfection, and then pick up a few things for Saturday’s work snack. Even so, every trip around the island has its own charm, and this one was no exception.

Hoy me toca estar en el centro comercial Parque Costa Azul para cambiar las cargas de los filtros, un trabajo que requiere paciencia y atención, pero más adelante les contaré con calma cómo transcurrió esta jornada. Por ahora quiero compartirles cómo fue nuestro viernes, un día que comenzó con un clima radiante, un calor intenso y unos paisajes que parecían pintados a mano por un excelente pintor.
Salimos de casa no muy temprano, pues la agenda del día era sencilla; visitar el hotel Wyndham Concorde para cumplir con nuestra rutina de clorado y desinfección, y luego buscar algunas cosas para la merienda del trabajo de este sábado. Aun así, cada recorrido por la isla tiene su encanto, y este no fue la excepción.
Our first stop was the Wyndham Concorde. Upon arrival, we got right to work, and the job went off without a hitch. The only thing that took a little longer was submitting the weekly invoice, because there were several other contractors waiting as well. While we waited, I watched as the hotel moved to the rhythm of the waning season—there are still some tourists coming and going, the staff working quickly, and that vibrant atmosphere that characterizes Margarita when there are still a few visitors left.
Nuestra primera parada fue el Wyndham Concorde. Al llegar, pasamos directo a realizar nuestro trabajo, que concluyó sin contratiempos. Lo único que tomó más tiempo fue la entrega de la factura semanal, porque había varios contratistas esperando también. Mientras esperábamos, observé cómo el hotel se movía al ritmo de la temporada que ya va bajando, aún hay algunos turistas entrando y saliendo, el personal trabajando con rapidez, y ese ambiente vibrante que caracteriza a Margarita cuando aún le quedan algunos visitantes.
Once we’d handed in the invoices, we took a short walk by the sea. It’s impossible to walk by there without stopping for a moment. The sea has that unique way of calling out to you, of inviting you to take a deep breath, of clearing your mind. Just looking at it, even for a few minutes, always refreshes me. The breeze, the gentle sound of the waves, and the sun glinting off the water create a perfect moment of calm in the midst of the daily grind.
Una vez entregadas las facturas, dimos un breve recorrido cerca del mar. Es imposible pasar por allí sin detenerse un momento. El mar tiene esa manera tan particular de llamar, de invitar a respirar hondo, de despejar la mente. Mirarlo, aunque sea por unos minutos, siempre me renueva. La brisa, el sonido suave de las olas y el reflejo del sol sobre el agua crean un instante perfecto de calma en medio de la rutina.
After that short break, we continued on our way. It was time to pick up some soft drinks for the afternoon snack for the guys who work with us. We ended up at the Rattan Market in the municipality of Maneiro, which is always well-stocked and makes shopping much easier. There, we got everything we needed to prepare the snack and, of course, the Pepsi Colas—which are a must. I know from experience that it’s everyone’s favorite soft drink. As for me, I don’t usually drink it; I prefer natural juices, especially when the day is as hot as it was this Friday.
Después de ese pequeño descanso, continuamos nuestro camino. Tocaba buscar los refrescos para la merienda de los muchachos que trabajan con nosotros. Terminamos en el mercado Rattan del municipio Maneiro, que siempre está bien surtido y facilita mucho las compras. Allí conseguimos todo lo necesario para preparar la merienda y, por supuesto, las Pepsi Cola que no pueden faltar. Ya sé por experiencia que es el refresco preferido de todos. En mi caso, no suelo tomarlo; prefiero los jugos naturales, especialmente cuando el día está tan caluroso como este viernes.
With our shopping done, we headed home. It was important to get some rest because this Saturday we had a task ahead of us that required a lot of attention and concentration. There are still some tourists on the island, but we managed to get there without much traffic, satisfied that we’d taken care of everything on our to-do list.
Con las compras listas, nos pusimos en marcha hacia la casa. Era importante descansar porque este sábado nos esperaba un trabajo que requiere mucha atención y concentración. La isla aún tiene algunos turistas, pero aun así logramos llegar sin mayor tráfico, con la satisfacción de haber cumplido todo lo que teníamos pendiente.
