[ENG/ESP] A long, productive Monday filled with beautiful scenery

A new day has begun, and as always, I hope it’s as productive for you as our Monday was—a day that started with an unexpected twist and ended up teaching us a valuable lesson. I’ll take my time telling you how it went, because it was one of those days that seem simple but ultimately leave you exhausted yet satisfied.
We had planned our routine at the Unik Hotel and the Parque Costa Azul shopping center. Everything had been organized the night before—we even knew which valves to check and which parameters to measure. But at 6:00 a.m., the phone rang, and, as often happens in our line of work, a single call changed the entire itinerary. It was from the Sunsol Ecoland Hotel. Since Sunday afternoon, the pressures at the desalination plant had been completely out of range—so much so that they decided to shut it down that night to prevent further damage.
They’d tried to reach us on Sunday, but at home we’d decided to disconnect from social media and spend the day doing other things to clear our minds. We didn’t imagine anything would happen, since the tourist season is already winding down and there are only a few tourists left who prefer September for its tranquility. Even so, work never gives you a heads-up.
We set out for the municipality of Gómez under strange weather conditions.

The sky was gray and it looked like it was going to rain, but as we drove on—especially as we approached La Playa Lagoon—the sky began to clear. That route, though long, is always a pleasure thanks to the scenery it offers: rolling mountains, lush vegetation, and that fresh air that signals you’re arriving at one of the most peaceful areas on the island.

When we arrived at the hotel, they were already waiting for us to head straight to the desalination plant. The engineer in charge greeted us, and we started up the plant to begin the inspection. We checked every parameter, every gauge, every pressure section. That’s when we noticed something that wasn’t visible to the naked eye: a valve that appeared to be open but was actually closed internally because it had been damaged. Those kinds of faults are deceptive, because visually everything looks normal, but the pressure readings don’t lie.
In addition, we detected a level of solids saturation that was causing the pressure to rise higher than it should. We decided to perform several backwashes, one after another, until the pressures finally began to stabilize. It sounds simple, but it was a job that took more than half the morning, requiring a great deal of concentration and patience.

When we were done, we took a short tour of the hotel. Everything was beautiful and peaceful. This hotel is popular with families looking for nature, tranquility, and the beach, and that day felt exactly like that: children playing, a gentle breeze, and a pleasant silence.

Since we were already done and it was around 3:30 p.m., we decided to head home to rest and get organized for the next day’s work. It was a hectic, unexpected, but productive Monday—the kind that reminds you that every day has its own rhythm and its own little details.
That’s how our first day of the week went. I wish you a happy Tuesday, full of positive energy and accomplished goals.
See you soon.
Bye

Chao
