Happy Sunday to everyone! I sincerely hope you’re enjoying a well-deserved rest—the kind that feels like a gift after a busy week. Today I’m definitely going to rest, and that fills me with joy because I’ll have time to spend with my family, something we value immensely and that always recharges our spirits. There’s nothing like a quiet Sunday to recharge our batteries and get ready for what’s ahead.
I want to tell you about our Saturday—a day when we worked hard from early in the morning until nightfall. In a previous post, I mentioned that I’d gone to the quarry to select the limestone we needed for the limestone chamber at the Sunsol Ecoland Hotel. Well, this Saturday it was time to finish the rest of the work, so we got up early, got organized, and left home knowing it would be a long day.
The weather was absolutely perfect. As we drove down Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue, the landscape looked like a living painting; the hills glistened in the morning sun, the blue of the sea blended with the sky on the horizon, and the gentle breeze made us feel that the island was having one of its best days. Sometimes words fall short when trying to describe such beauty, but those who know the island know that it possesses a magic that makes you fall in love with it even on the simplest of days.
Feliz domingo para todos, de corazón deseo que estén disfrutando de un merecido descanso, de esos que se sienten como un regalo después de una semana intensa. Hoy sí descansaré, y eso me llena de alegría porque tendré tiempo para compartir con mi familia, que es algo que valoramos muchísimo y que siempre nos recarga el espíritu. Nada como un domingo tranquilo para recuperar energías y prepararnos para lo que viene.
Quiero contarles cómo fue nuestro día sábado, un día que trabajamos con intensidad desde temprano y que se extendió hasta caer la noche. En una publicación anterior les mencioné que había ido a la cantera para escoger el material cálcico que necesitábamos para la cámara cálcica del hotel Sunsol Ecoland. Pues bien, este sábado tocó materializar el resto del trabajo, así que nos levantamos temprano, nos organizamos y salimos de casa con la convicción de que sería una jornada larga.
El clima nos acompañó de una manera sublime. Mientras avanzábamos por la avenida Simplicio Rodríguez, el paisaje parecía una pintura viva; los cerros brillaban con los rayos del sol mañanero, el azul del mar se fundía con el cielo en el horizonte y la brisa suave nos hacía sentir que la Isla estaba en uno de sus mejores días. A veces las palabras se quedan cortas para describir tanta belleza, pero quienes conocen la Isla saben que tiene esa magia que enamora incluso en los días más simples.
Amid beautiful scenery, a gentle breeze, and lively conversation, we arrived at the hotel with all the necessary equipment and tools for the day’s challenge. The hotel has a fairly large capacity, but in the mornings you hardly see any tourists because most of them are resting, which allows us to get around in the van more comfortably.
Entre paisajes, brisa y una conversación animada, llegamos al hotel con todo el equipo de trabajo y las herramientas necesarias para el desafío del día. Even so, we’re always careful, because the hotel rents out motorcycles, bicycles, and skateboards, in addition to the Sunsol shuttle that takes guests from one end of the resort to the other. It’s an excellent service, especially since the distances within the resort are long.

We arrived at the desalination plant to work on the calcium chamber. The guys unloaded the tools, set up the winch, and got to work.

Around lunchtime, my husband and I went to pick up everyone’s lunch, and that short walk allowed us to take in other parts of the hotel that never fail to amaze with their natural beauty.
We had lunch sitting by the lagoon, and it was a delightful experience. The birds approached us calmly, as if they were part of the everyday scenery, and that’s what gives this hotel its special charm: its lagoon, its beach, and that direct connection to nature that visitors enjoy so much.
Cerca del horario de almuerzo, mi esposo y yo nos trasladamos para retirar la comida de todos, y ese pequeño recorrido nos permitió apreciar otros rincones del hotel que siempre sorprenden por su belleza natural.
Almorzamos sentados a un costado de la laguna, y fue una experiencia encantadora. Las aves se acercaban con tranquilidad, como si fueran parte del paisaje cotidiano, y eso hace que este hotel tenga un encanto especial; su laguna, su playa y esa conexión directa con la naturaleza que tanto disfrutan los visitantes.
After lunch, we continued with our main task: hauling the calcium-based material up to the chamber. It was hard work—the kind that requires strength, coordination, and patience—but we completed it successfully.
Después del almuerzo continuamos con la tarea principal; subir el material cálcico a la cámara. Fue un trabajo arduo, de esos que requieren fuerza, coordinación y paciencia, pero lo concluimos satisfactoriamente.
By the time we finally left the hotel, night was already falling. We were a little tired, yes, but our hearts were light because we’d done everything right, and we were satisfied knowing that a well-deserved rest awaited us this Sunday.
Cuando finalmente salimos del hotel, ya estaba cayendo la noche. Íbamos un poco cansados, sí, pero con el corazón alegre por haber hecho las cosas bien y con la satisfacción de saber que este domingo nos esperaba un descanso merecido.
