Happy Sunday to everyone! I sincerely hope you’re enjoying this weekend and that you can treat yourselves to a little downtime—the kind that your body and soul will thank you for. As for me, I’ve had a wonderful time with my family, spoiling them a bit and making the most of every moment to recharge my batteries. Today I want to tell you about how our Saturday went—a simple day but full of those little details that make it special, the kind you love without even realizing it.
Usually, on weekends my husband and I are home alone, because our son often goes to his friend’s house. So the morning started off calmly, without any rush or hustle. We woke up at our own pace, made breakfast, and then went to feed our birds. Lately, they’ve been laying very few eggs—barely four, when we usually collect fifteen. The heat is too intense, and even though they have a roof and a fan, you can still tell they’re suffering from the weather. That’s why today we decided to add vitamins to their fresh water to help them cope with these sweltering temperatures.
After tending to them and making sure they were comfortable, we left the house because we’d received a message on Zoom letting us know we could pick up a package for a friend who lives in Paraguachí. So we got organized and set off. The sky was beautiful, with a few clouds that made it look even more stunning, as if the day wanted to treat us to a special view. As we drove along, we enjoyed the contrast between the natural and the urban—that blend so characteristic of our island that never fails to surprise us.

Yo, por mi parte, la he pasado muy bien junto a mi familia, consintiéndolos un poco y aprovechando cada momento para recargar energías. Hoy quiero contarles cómo transcurrió nuestro sábado, un día sencillo pero lleno de esos detalles que lo hacen especial, de esos que uno ama sin darse cuenta.
Por lo general, los fines de semana mi esposo y yo estamos solos en casa, porque nuestro hijo suele ir a casa de su amiga. Así que la mañana comenzó con calma, sin apuros ni carreras. Nos levantamos tranquilos, preparamos el desayuno y luego fuimos a darle alimento a nuestras aves. En estos días han estado poniendo muy poco, apenas cuatro huevos cuando normalmente recogíamos quince. El calor está demasiado fuerte y, aunque tienen techo y extractor, igual se nota que sufren por el clima. Por eso hoy decidimos agregarles vitaminas al agua fresca para ayudarlas a sobrellevar estas temperaturas tan sofocantes.
Después de atenderlas y asegurarnos de que estuvieran cómodas, salimos de casa porque nos había llegado un mensaje de Zoom avisando que ya podíamos retirar una encomienda para una amiga que vive en Paraguachí. Así que nos organizamos y emprendimos camino. El cielo estaba precioso, con algunas nubes que lo hacían ver aún más hermoso, como si el día quisiera regalarnos un paisaje especial. Mientras avanzábamos, íbamos disfrutando del contraste entre lo natural y lo urbano, esa mezcla tan característica de nuestra isla que siempre logra sorprendernos.
We arrived at the Zoom office in Sambil, which is our favorite because of its efficiency and the friendly service we always receive there. We picked up the package without any issues and headed to Paraguachi to visit our friend who lives near the beautiful church.
Llegamos a la oficina de Zoom del Sambil, que es la que más nos gusta por su rapidez y el buen trato que siempre nos brindan. Retiramos la encomienda sin contratiempos y nos dirigimos a Paraguachi a casa de nuestra amiga que vive cerca de la hermosa iglesia.
We went back home because I had been planning to make a dish that my husband and son love. I’d been thinking about it since early in the morning, so as soon as I walked into the kitchen, I got right to work.
I decided to make some cannelloni. Although pasta isn’t exactly my favorite food, they do love it, and today I wanted to spoil them a little more. I gathered all the ingredients, chopped, mixed, seasoned, and assembled the cannelloni with patience and love.
Regresamos a casa, porque yo tenía en mente preparar un plato que a mi esposo y a mi hijo les encanta. Ya venía con la idea desde temprano, así que apenas entré a la cocina puse manos a la obra.

Then I put them in the oven, and within minutes, the house began to fill with that delicious smell that signals something good is about to come out. That aroma blended with the joy that was already in the air, with that wonderful feeling of family love that is beyond compare.

Once the cannelloni was ready, we sat down at the table and enjoyed it together. It was the perfect way to end a quiet, family-filled Saturday full of those little moments that make life more beautiful.
