[ENG/ESP] A tour to Punta Ballena Lighthouse
Greetings dear friends of this #pinmapple community.
I want to share with you today a beautiful journey we made to the Punta Ballena Lighthouse, located in Pampatar, in the municipality of Maneiro on Margarita Island.

Quiero compartir hoy con ustedes un hermoso recorrido que hicimos hacia el Faro de Punta Ballena, ubicado en Pampatar, en el municipio Maneiro en Isla Margarita.
On this vacation we set out to visit places on the island that we do not usually visit, so we directed our steps towards the Lighthouse. To get there, we had to take the Cristo road to Playa Baldes (which we had visited another time), then we took the Colina de la Caranta road, which is a very steep road.
En estas vacaciones nos propusimos recorrer lugares de la isla que no solemos visitar, por lo que dirigimos nuestros pasos hacia el Faro. Para llegar a él, tuvimos que tomar la carretera del Cristo hasta Playa Baldes (que habíamos visitado en otro momento), luego tomamos la carretera Colina de la Caranta, que es una vía muy empinada.
So we had to drive slowly in the car and near the road there are many luxurious condominiums, townhouses, buildings and cabins, but above all breathtaking views of the sea. It is difficult to explain with words so much beauty.
Por lo cual teníamos que andar despacio en el auto y cerca a la vía se encuentran muchos lujosos condominios, townhouses, edificios y cabañas, pero sobre todo unas vistas impresionantes hacia el mar. Es difícil explicar con palabras tanta belleza.
This road took us to its end, which is the lighthouse. As I mentioned before, the lighthouse is called Punta Ballena and I will tell you why it has that name. This lighthouse, which also functions as a lookout point, was built on a hill called La Caranta which had the shape of a whale's head at its end. That is why it is called Punta Ballena. It was built in 2007 by the Venezuelan Navy using a colonial style that represents the fortifications of past times. This information is pasted on a tombstone outside the lighthouse.
Esta carretera nos llevó hasta su final, que es el Faro. Como mencioné anteriormente, el Faro se llama Punta Ballena y les contaré por qué tiene ese nombre. Este faro, que también funciona como mirador, fue construido en un cerro llamado La Caranta el cual tenía la forma de la cabeza de una ballena en su extremo. Por esa razón le llaman Punta Ballena. Fue construido en 2007 por la Armada Venezolana utilizando un estilo colonial que representa las fortificaciones de épocas pasadas. Esta información se encuentra pegada en una lápida en las afueras del faro.
Like every lighthouse it has its spiral staircase, but these are made of reinforced concrete like the whole building in general.
Cómo todo faro tiene su escalera de caracol, pero estas son de concreto armado como toda la edificación en general.
On the first floor of the lighthouse there is a quaint and well-stocked souvenir store.
En la planta baja del faro hay una pintoresca tienda de souvenirs bastante surtida.
In a mezzanine they have a hydrographic museum that displays several interesting pieces.
En una mezzanina tienen un museo hidrográfico que muestra varias piezas interesantes.
This beautiful lighthouse fulfills two functions: one as a guide during the nights, which is very important for the navigation in the island since many locals live from fishing; and another function is during the day, being visited by tourists and locals who want to enjoy the beautiful place where you can breathe a great sea air and enjoy great views.
Este hermoso faro cumple dos funciones: una como guía durante las noches, lo cual es muy importante para la navegación en la Isla ya que muchos lugareños viven de la pesca; y otra función es durante el día, siendo visitado por turistas y lugareños que quieran disfrutar del bello lugar donde se respira un aire marino estupendo y se disfruta de unas vistas geniales.
From the lookout point you can watch the seagulls and albatrosses flying; others gliding to see if they spot any fish to eat.
Desde el mirador se pueden observar las gaviotas y albatros volando; otros planeando a ver si divisan algún pez para comer.
We can see from the top the immense sea with its shades of colors.
Podemos ver desde lo alto el inmenso mar con sus tonalidades de colores.
At another point of the lighthouse we can see the Pampatar salt flats, which are close to the lighthouse and offer a beautiful view. It would have been more exciting for me to have seen how they do the extraction, but apparently that will be on another visit.
En otro punto del faro podemos divisar las salinas de Pampatar, que están cerca del mismo ofreciendo una vista hermosa. Hubiera sido más emocionante para mí haber visto cómo hacen la extracción, pero al parecer será en otra visita.
When I got off the lighthouse I walked around the place for a while, as I was so excited I did not notice a large marine locator buoy and I could not leave without seeing it and taking a picture.
Al bajar del faro recorrí un poco el lugar ya que al llegar con tanta emoción no me fijé en una gran boya de localización marina y no podía marcharme sin verla y tomarle una foto.
I hope dear friends that you enjoyed this beautiful trip through Pampatar to the lighthouse with me. I want to tell you that I personally enjoyed this wonderful trip where I could appreciate beautiful views and learn some history while breathing a good breeze.

Que lugar tan hermoso hermana , se parece salvando las distancias al Faro de la Bahía de la Habana , que lindo lugar , lo tengo anotado , si alguna vez vuelvo quisiera ir allí , es súper hermoso ❤️
Es un poquito más pequeño que el de la Habana, pero muy parecidos, y las vistas son hermosas. Me enamore del lugar, me alegra que te gustara mi hermana @lileisabel 🌹🌷🪷🌼🏵️💮🌻💐🌸🥀🌺☘️
