[ENG/ESP] Isla Caribe, where work blends with the sea breeze
Since the start of this week, there has been no shortage of work. We have been busy, facing new challenges with enthusiasm and commitment. Each day brings a different experience, and that is what makes this job so dynamic and rewarding. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful day, full of success and beautiful moments.
The weather has been a little rainy, as is often the case at this time of year. However, rain on the island has a special magic. It rains heavily at times, but then, as if nothing had happened, the sky clears and a bright sun appears, illuminating everything in its path. It is a natural spectacle that never ceases to amaze me. Sometimes it even rains again later, but that does not affect the rhythm of the day at all. On the contrary, the vegetation becomes greener, the landscapes become more beautiful, and the air is filled with freshness. It is as if nature were constantly renewing itself, giving us living postcards that invite us to stop and contemplate.
Desde que comenzó esta semana, el trabajo no ha faltado ni un solo día. Hemos estado ocupados, enfrentando nuevos retos con entusiasmo y compromiso. Cada jornada trae consigo una experiencia distinta, y eso es lo que hace que este oficio sea tan dinámico y enriquecedor. Aprovecho para desearles a todos un día maravilloso, lleno de éxitos y hermosos momentos.
El clima ha estado un poco lluvioso, como suele suceder en esta época del año. Sin embargo, la lluvia en la isla tiene una magia especial. Llueve con intensidad por momentos, pero luego, como si nada hubiese pasado, el cielo se despeja y aparece un sol radiante que ilumina todo a su paso. Es un espectáculo natural que nunca deja de sorprenderme. Incluso, a veces vuelve a llover más tarde, pero eso no afecta en lo absoluto el ritmo del día. Al contrario, la vegetación se torna más verde, los paisajes se embellecen y el aire se llena de frescura. Es como si la naturaleza se renovara constantemente, regalándonos postales vivas que invitan a detenerse y contemplar.
On this occasion, our team had the opportunity to work at the Sunsol Isla Caribe hotel, a place I really like because of its proximity to the sea. Being so close to the salt water and listening to the sound of the waves is something that always comforts me. Plus, between tasks, you can take a few minutes to relax and recharge your batteries.
En esta ocasión, nuestro equipo tuvo la oportunidad de trabajar en el hotel Sunsol Isla Caribe, un lugar que me agrada mucho por su cercanía al mar. Estar tan cerca del agua salada y escuchar el sonido de las olas es algo que siempre me reconforta. Además, entre tarea y tarea, uno puede tomarse unos minutos para relajarse y recargar energías.
The task assigned to us was to clean tank number 3, which directly supplies the hotel's bottling plant. This is a task of great responsibility, as the quality of the water that is processed and offered to guests depends on this tank. For this reason, we arrived early, after coordinating in advance with the hotel's quality department. According to health regulations, these tanks must be cleaned and disinfected every six months, and this hotel chain strictly complies with this protocol.
La labor que nos fue asignada consistía en realizar la limpieza del tanque número 3, el cual abastece directamente a la planta embotelladora del hotel. Es una tarea de gran responsabilidad, ya que de ese tanque depende la calidad del agua que se procesa y se ofrece a los huéspedes. Por eso, llegamos temprano, tras haber coordinado previamente con el departamento de calidad del hotel. Según las normas del cuerpo de salud, estos tanques deben limpiarse y desinfectarse cada seis meses, y en esta cadena hotelera ese protocolo se cumple con rigurosidad.
Upon arrival, we encountered a minor setback: the tank still contained 40% water, which made it difficult to start cleaning. We had to wait for the water to be transferred to another tank. In the meantime, we began installing one of the pumps to speed up the process.
Al llegar, nos encontramos con un pequeño contratiempo: el tanque aún contenía un 40% de agua, lo cual dificultaba el inicio de la limpieza. Tuvimos que esperar a que se realizara el traspaso del agua a otro tanque. Mientras tanto, comenzamos a instalar una de las bombas para acelerar el proceso.
When the water level was finally right, the team members entered the tank to carefully clean all the walls.
I stayed outside, making sure the pumps didn't shut off. They prefer that I not enter the tank, as the work inside requires physical strength and can be uncomfortable. My job was to ensure that the water flow remained constant to facilitate cleaning.
Cuando finalmente el nivel del agua fue el adecuado, los muchachos del equipo ingresaron al tanque para limpiar todas las paredes con esmero.
Yo me quedé afuera, vigilando que las bombas no se apagaran. Ellos prefieren que no entre al tanque, ya que el trabajo dentro demanda fuerza física y puede resultar incómodo. Mi tarea era asegurarme de que el flujo de agua se mantuviera constante para facilitar la limpieza.
Fortunately, this tank did not have as much sludge as others we have serviced, so it looked like we would finish earlier than usual. Once the cleaning was complete, we proceeded to chlorinate and disinfect the tank using 70% calcium hypochlorite combined with hideolle to ensure that every corner was thoroughly treated.
Afortunadamente, este tanque no tenía tanto lodo como otros que hemos atendido, así que todo indicaba que terminaríamos más temprano de lo habitual. Una vez finalizada la limpieza, procedimos a clorar y desinfectar el tanque utilizando hipoclorito de calcio al 70%, combinado con hideolle, para garantizar que cada rincón quedara perfectamente tratado.
When we finished, the quality control managers thoroughly reviewed the work we had done. Everything was in order. We gathered our tools and left the hotel with the satisfaction of having completed our work efficiently and in an organized manner. We were even congratulated for our coordination and professionalism.
As usual, before leaving, we took our group photo, everyone smiling happily. It is a gesture that symbolizes the end of a productive day and the camaraderie that unites us.
Al concluir, los encargados del control de calidad revisaron minuciosamente el trabajo realizado. Todo estaba en orden. Recogimos nuestras herramientas y nos retiramos del hotel con la satisfacción de haber cumplido con nuestra labor de manera eficiente y organizada. Incluso nos felicitaron por la coordinación y el profesionalismo demostrado.
Como es costumbre, antes de irnos, nos tomamos nuestra foto grupal, todos sonriendo con alegría. Es un gesto que simboliza el cierre de una jornada productiva y el compañerismo que nos une.
