[ENG/ESP] The Asunción Squares.
Greetings dear friends of #pinmapple.
This is my first post is this community and I want to share with you today, a beautiful tour I did with my family through the squares of La Asuncion, this picturesque municipality.

Es mi primera publicación es esta comunidad y quiero hoy compartir con ustedes, un hermoso recorrido que hice con mi familia por las plazas de La Asunción, este pintoresco municipio.
I will start by telling you that La Asunción is the capital of the state of Nueva Esparta and a beautiful colonial city.
During my walk through the square, it caught my attention that there were two monuments and a man selling handicrafts. He explained that there were two squares, which was a big surprise for me. At one end is the Plaza Simón Bolívar and at the other the Plaza Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, separated by a boulevard so subtle that you almost don't realize that they are two squares. I knew this because I asked; perhaps many do not know this fact.
Comenzaré contándoles que La Asunción es la capital del estado Nueva Esparta y una ciudad colonial bellísima.
Durante mi paseo por la plaza, me llamó la atención que hubiera dos monumentos y un señor vendiendo artesanías. Me explicó que eran dos plazas, lo cual fue una gran sorpresa para mí. En un extremo está la Plaza Simón Bolívar y en el otro la Plaza Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, separadas por un boulevard tan sutil que casi no te das cuenta de que son dos plazas. Yo lo supe porque pregunté; tal vez muchos desconozcan este dato.
These squares are filled with large oak trees, which makes them very cool and invites you to sit and enjoy their shade while contemplating the interesting surroundings.
Estas plazas están llenas de grandes árboles de robles, lo que las hace muy frescas e invita a sentarse y disfrutar de su sombra mientras se contempla el entorno tan interesante.
On a street parallel to the Plaza Luisa Cáceres is the Casa de la Cultura Municipal, and on one of its sides is the Museo Nueva Cádiz, which I plan to visit some other time.
En una calle paralela a la Plaza Luisa Cáceres se encuentra la Casa de la Cultura Municipal, y en uno de sus lados está el Museo Nueva Cádiz, al cual pienso visitar en otro momento.
On one of the sides of the Plaza Simon Bolivar there are shops with typical crafts of the country and very picturesque, as well as a fountain of desire. There are also refreshment stands in colonial style and even some walls preserved as they were built in their time for visitors to admire.
En uno de los laterales de la Plaza Simón Bolívar hay locales con artesanías típicas del país y muy pintorescas, así como una fuente del deseo. También hay puestos de refrigerios al estilo colonial e incluso algunas paredes conservadas tal como fueron construidas en su época para que los visitantes las admiren.
The boulevard that divides these plazas has planters with small palmitas, bushes and many bougainvillea plants of different colors. During our tour we saw some works of art that embellish the place; I do not know who the author is since they did not have a visible signature.
El boulevard que divide estas plazas cuenta con jardineras con pequeñas palmitas, arbustos y muchas plantas de buganvilia de diferentes colores. Durante nuestro recorrido vimos algunas obras de arte que embellecen el lugar; desconozco quién sea el autor ya que no tenían firma visible.
At the end of this boulevard is the municipality's mayor's office waving its flags.
Al final de este boulevard se encuentra la alcaldía del municipio ondeando sus banderas.
We decided to return because from afar we could see a church and we wanted to go inside to see it. Here on the island almost every square has a beautiful church; in this case, Plaza Luisa Cáceres also has its own: the Catedral Nuestra Señora de La Asunción.
Decidimos regresar porque desde lejos pudimos ver una iglesia y deseábamos entrar a conocerla. Aquí en la isla casi todas las plazas tienen una bella iglesia; en este caso, la Plaza Luisa Cáceres también tiene la suya: la Catedral Nuestra Señora de La Asunción.
On this occasion I had the joy of finding the doors open and I was able to admire its beautiful architecture. Upon entering the church, you can appreciate its beautiful white façade.
In the side aisles attached to the walls almost to the floor there were tombstones placed in memory of illustrious characters that were part of the history of the island. According to what I heard from a parishioner, this cathedral was one of the first built here in Venezuela and was rebuilt around 1621 in a Tuscan style; it has also been declared a historical monument.
En esta ocasión tuve la dicha de encontrar las puertas abiertas y pude admirar su hermosa arquitectura. Al ingresar a la iglesia, se puede apreciar su hermosa fachada blanca.
En los pasillos laterales pegadas a las paredes casi al suelo había lápidas colocadas que recuerdan a ilustres personajes que formaron parte de la historia de la isla. Según escuché a través de un feligrés, esta catedral fue una de las primeras construidas aquí en Venezuela y fue reconstruida alrededor del año 1621 con un estilo toscano; además, ha sido declarada monumento histórico.
Inside the church there are large plaster statues and huge columns that support its beautiful wooden ceiling from which hang lamps illuminating all the aisles. At the end of my visit to the church I went out to the square to see the first bell that the church had on display there.
En su interior destacan grandes estatuas de yeso y unas inmensas columnas que sostienen su hermoso techo de madera del cual cuelgan lámparas iluminando todos los pasillos. Al finalizar mi visita a la iglesia salí a la plaza para ver La primera campana que tuvo la Iglesia expuesta allí.
Very happy with our tour and the experience of visiting this church was rewarding, I am sure it will remain engraved in my memory for a long time.
Satisfied and full of peace and tranquility we started our way home always thinking of returning to La Asuncion to visit the Nueva Cadiz Museum.
Muy contenta con nuestro recorrido y la experiencia al visitar esta iglesia fue gratificante, estoy segura de que quedará grabado en mi memoria por mucho tiempo.
Satisfechos y llenos de paz y tranquilidad emprendimos el camino hacia casa pensando siempre en volver a La Asunción para visitar el Museo Nueva Cádiz.

Amiga @taniagonzalez este es de mis lugares favoritos, esa plaza de verdad la admiro podemos conseguir ahí de todo y cuando tengas la oportunidad te sientas en uno de esos lugares y podrás darte cuenta que te genera una paz inigualable, en esa plaza paso gran parte de mis días, en unos de sus laterales se encuentra el Teatro Omar Carreño y ahí dan muchas actividades para los niños como ballet, salsa casino, clases de cuatro, danzas, clases de pintura, siempre hay mucha fluidez de personas, la iglesia es de mis iglesias favoritas, ese estilo colonial lo hace tan especial, ahorita en marzo son las festividades de semana santa y son súper lindas. Gracias por compartir tan bellas imágenes amiga para que todos la puedan conocer, es muy bella la plaza de la Asunción y llena de mucha historia. Saludos y Bendiciones.
