Happy start to the week, dear friends. I sincerely hope your day is productive and wonderful—one of those days that begins on a high note and ends with the satisfaction of having accomplished everything on your to-do list. Today I want to tell you about our workday on Saturday, a day so intense that we didn’t finish until late at night—exhausted but with the peace of mind that comes from a job well done. That’s why I didn’t have time to share this experience with you sooner, but here I am, taking my time, to tell you how it went.
On Saturday, we had to go to Costa Azul Park to replace the filter cartridges. We left home early, under a fierce sun that heated even the stones in seconds. That’s the weather in Margarita: beautiful, hot, and a bit stifling, but also full of breathtaking landscapes, with that blue sky that looks like it was hand-painted. Despite the heat, there’s always something in the air that pushes you to keep going.

Espero de corazón que su día sea suficientemente productivo y hermoso, de esos que comienzan con buen ánimo y terminan con la satisfacción de haber cumplido con todo lo que tocaba. Hoy quiero contarles cómo fue nuestro sábado de trabajo, un día tan intenso que terminamos ya entrada la noche, agotados pero con la tranquilidad de haber cumplido. Por esa razón no tuve tiempo de compartir antes con ustedes esta vivencia, pero aquí estoy, con calma, para relatarles cómo transcurrió.
El sábado teníamos que ir al Parque Costa Azul para cambiar las cargas a uno de los filtros. Salimos temprano de casa, bajo un sol bravo que calentaba en segundos hasta las piedras. Así es el clima en Margarita; hermoso, caliente y un tanto sofocante, pero también lleno de paisajes que enamoran, con ese cielo azul que parece pintado a mano. A pesar del calor, siempre hay algo en el ambiente que te impulsa a seguir adelante.
My first stop of the day was at Zoom, where I had to pick up a tool we’d ordered to make work a little more human. I’ll confess something: if I have to drive, I do it without hesitation, but I prefer my husband to be the one behind the wheel. When he drives, I feel safe and calm, as if the road were smoother. To me, he’s the best driver. But that day, he’d left early on his motorcycle to get everything organized while I picked up the order.
Mi primera parada del día fue en Zoom, donde debía recoger una herramienta que mandamos a comprar para humanizar un poco el trabajo. Les confieso algo; si tengo que manejar, lo hago sin dudar, pero prefiero que mi esposo sea quien lleve el volante. Cuando él maneja me siento segura, tranquila, como si el camino se hiciera más suave. Para mí es el mejor chófer. Pero ese día él había salido temprano en la moto para organizar todo mientras yo recogía el encargo.
With the tool in hand, I went out to find my husband and the staff who would be working with us. We’re a team that fits together like pieces of a puzzle; each of us knows where we belong, what we need to do, and how to contribute so that everything runs smoothly. That harmony is what makes even the toughest days bearable.
Con la herramienta en mano, salí a buscar a mi esposo y al personal que trabajaría con nosotros. Somos un equipo que encaja como piezas de rompecabezas; cada quien sabe dónde va, qué debe hacer y cómo aportar para que todo fluya. Esa armonía es lo que hace que incluso los días más pesados se vuelvan llevaderos.
Upon arrival, everyone set about doing their part. First, we relieved the pressure in the system, and then we proceeded to drain the water from the filter. After that, the hardest part of the job began: removing the damaged components and replacing them with new ones.
Al llegar, cada uno se dispuso a cumplir con su parte. Primero se liberó la presión del sistema y luego procedimos a sacar el agua del filtro. Después comenzó el trabajo más fuerte; retirar la carga dañada para sustituirla por las nuevas.
“El flaco", as we affectionately called him, was the only one who could fit through the peephole, so he was the one who took care of getting the cargo out from inside.
El flaco, como cariñosamente lo llamamos, era el único que podía entrar por el visor, así que fue él quien se encargó de sacar la carga desde adentro.
The new tool we bought was a winch, because we had to haul the loads up from the trench, and doing it via the ladder was too strenuous. You always have to think about making the work more humane—making it safer and less exhausting. Since I was the only woman in the group, it fell to me to operate the winch while they moved the loads. It wasn’t easy work, but it did make me feel like an essential part of the team.
La herramienta nueva que compramos era un winche, porque teníamos que subir las cargas desde la trinchera, y hacerlo por la escalera era demasiado fuerte. Siempre hay que pensar en humanizar el trabajo, en hacerlo más seguro y menos agotador. Por ser la única mujer del grupo, me tocó operar el winche mientras ellos trasladaban las cargas. No era un trabajo liviano, pero sí uno que me hacía sentir parte fundamental del equipo.
Once we managed to remove everything, we began to thoroughly clean the filter. The guy finally came out, soaked and exhausted, but with the satisfaction of a job well done. We then proceeded to install the new filter elements, carefully and precisely, until everything was perfectly secured. With that, we considered the filter repair complete.
Cuando logramos sacar todo, comenzamos a limpiar bien el filtro. El flaco salió al fin, empapado y cansado, pero con la satisfacción de haber cumplido. Luego procedimos a colocar las cargas nuevas, con cuidado y precisión, hasta dejar todo perfectamente ajustado. Con eso dimos por concluido ese filtro.

Logramos avanzar en casi todo lo que teníamos previsto y, aunque quedó ese filtro pendiente, ya está encaminado para resolverlo en la próxima visita.
