[ESP -ENG] Morrocoy shell earrings

Saludos para todos en esta linda comunidad de #jewelry que nos inspira a crear algo nuevo cada vez; en el día de hoy quiero mostrarle unos aretes que hice con unas conchas de morrocoy, llegaron a mis manos por medio de una amiga mía que las tenía en su patio y quiso regalármelas.
Esta concha, a diferencia de las conchas de tortugas marinas, las de tortugas terrestres tienen menos dureza, lo que las hacen relativamente fácil para maniobrar con ellas.
Estos fueron los materiales que utilicé para la fabricación de estos aretes.

Greetings to everyone in this beautiful #jewelry community that inspires us to create something new every time; today I want to show you some earrings I made with morrocoy shells, they came to my hands through a friend of mine who had them in her backyard and wanted to give them to me.
Unlike sea turtle shells, land turtle shells have less hardness, which makes them relatively easy to maneuver with.
These were the materials I used to make these earrings.

Silicón liquido

Para comenzar, agarré las 2 conchas y con ayuda de las tijeras, las piqué en dos pedazos del cual a los más pequeños le di forma circular y a los más grande forma de trapezoide. Esto tuve que hacerlo teniendo mucho cuidado de no romperlas debido a que con su fragilidad, un movimiento brusco o ejercer mucha fuerza podría partirlas por un lugar no deseado para mí.

To begin I took the 2 shells and with the help of the scissors I cut them into two pieces, the smaller ones I gave a circular shape and the larger ones, a trapezoid shape. I had to do this being very careful not to break them because with their fragility, a sudden movement or exerting too much force could break them in a place not desired by me.

En este punto decidí usar la cuchilla de maqueta para abrirle los huecos a las piezas, y la verdad que a estas conchas es más fácil abrirlas de lo que esperaba por lo que con un poco de presión logré hacer los agujeros, pero debía tener cuidado de no ejercer mucha fuerza y por ende, romperlas

At this point I decided to use the model blade to open the holes to the pieces, and the truth is that these shells are easier to open than I expected so with a little pressure I managed to make the holes, but I had to be careful not to exert too much force and therefore break them

Usando la pasta de diente Colgate, poniendo una pequeña porción en un paño, le aplico un poco en las piezas grandes de conchas y luego las froto gentilmente con un pañuelo para que obtuvieran un hermoso brillo y resaltara el relieve que estos morrocoyes suelen tener en su caparazón.

Using Colgate toothpaste, putting a small portion on a cloth, I applied some to the large pieces of shell and then gently rubbed them with a handkerchief to give them a beautiful shine and highlight the relief that these morrocoys usually have on their shells.

Aproveché de utilizar 2 aros de cobre que me habían sobrado de otro proyecto que hice y, con ayuda de las pinzas los abrí para introducirlo dentro del orificio de la concha grande, primeramente,y posteriormente la pequeña, todo siempre con mucho cuidado debido a la fragilidad, de dicha concha.

I took advantage of using 2 copper rings that I had left over from another project I did and, with the help of the tweezers I opened them to introduce them into the hole of the large shell, first, then the small one, always very carefully due to the fragility of the shell.

Con los aretes formados, solo faltaba algo para poder ponerlos en las orejas, y a este punto, las tachuelas sin cabeza que tenía me fueron muy útiles, usé el silicón líquido para poder pegarlos al pedazo más chiquito de la concha y así tener completado lo que serían estos hermosos aretes de concha de morrocoy.

With the earrings formed, only something was missing to put them in the ears, and at this point, the headless tacks that I had were very useful, I used the liquid silicone to glue them to the smallest piece of the shell and thus have completed what would be these beautiful morrocoy shell earrings.

Para poder concluir en su totalidad pique con las tijeras unas gomitas para ponerlas en las tachuelas de los aretes después de ponérmelos y así evitar que se salieran de la oreja y listo.

To be able to conclude in its totality I cut with the scissors some rubber bands to put them in the studs of the earrings after putting them on and thus to avoid that they went out of the ear and ready.

Aquí tienen una visualización de cómo me quedaron después de haberlos creado, la verdad que su sencillez los hace combinar bien con casi todo y no es muy difícil hacerlos, solo hay que tener algo de paciencia y cuidado.

Here you have a visualization of how they looked like after I created them, the truth is that their simplicity makes them combine well with almost everything and it is not very difficult to make them, you just have to have some patience and care.

Espero que les hayan gustado estos aretes tanto como disfruté hacerlos, la verdad que este proyecto en particular requirió mucha paciencia, concentración y cuidado debido a la delicadeza del material principal por lo que, usar materiales fuertes sin cuidado podría haber roto dicha concha, al menos de ellos salieron estos hermosos aretes, espero verlos en otra ocasión.

I hope you liked these earrings as much as I enjoyed making them, the truth is that this particular project required a lot of patience, concentration and care due to the delicacy of the main material so, using strong materials without care could have broken the shell, at least from them came out these beautiful earrings, I hope to see them another time.
