I fear it might require an entire cultural shift from worshipping at the altar of more to instead valuing better. We have to collectively stop focusing on this fantasy that not only CAN we "have it all," but also recognize that having it ALL isn't the magic pill to happiness.

Our previous exchange on this, and about mail order underscores how "anticipation" and "looking forward to" are quietly becoming concepts of the past. Part of the fun of that sports card collection was in the hunt, not just in the having.

Remember the "Slow Food" movement of the 1980s? We have become so far removed from such ideas. And something is lost there; part of our essential human-ness, even...

I could go on at length, but I'll refrain...

I agree with you that a cultural shift is required. We see a lot of "promotion" done by the "forces" with all that isms that are leaving people unsatisfied and empty.

What is ironic is people want more yet do not realize they are getting it in droves. Compared to 40 years ago, the amount we have in certain areas is mindblowing.

Even with a car, which most in the developed world have one, there is no comparison. A Cadillac in the 1980s did not have a fraction of the features on a basic car today. That is overlooked.

When it comes to information, entertainment, and communication, it is near unlimited. People got more and they dont realize it.

I think it is the fast paced world and the current media that causes these. Tiktok, YT shorts, FB stories. These are short videos that people watch in quick succession. They are getting used to quick gratification. For Crypto, maybe it is the shitcoins and the pump and dump that happens to those and they expect it to happen to more stable coins. People need to work on building a good base.
