Gold Versus Crypto: Some Views On The Debate
VItalik got into a twitter debate over gold versus crypto.
In this video I discuss some points to consider. When it comes to gold versus Bitcoin, we might be dealing with apples. However, with crypto, it is such a wide landscape.

Gold is subject to too much manipulation .
Impossible to trade as a result.
Great vid as per usual 👌
Silver > Gold
Silver has a zillion industrial uses. A kilo in a internal combustion vehicle, even more in an EV. Silver in every solar panel. And on an on. Very little gets recycled.
So I do have some silver. But in terms of value at current prices, less than 10% of my portfolio.

I think gold is losing it's place and I never really understood why people said space would be a game changer when we don't even have a cost efficient way to transfer the materials. It just seems like a profit losing industry if you have to spend so much fuel to transport the goods.

It may be a game changer, but neither of us will be around when that happens, lol.
If the SHTF and governments begin to seize assets gold will be easy pickings.
We know this to happen historically.
Can crypto be seized?
Sure it can be but if the SHTF it can be moved around to trusted people in your community to spread risk or to set you up for relocation.

Summary:
In this video, Task discusses a recent Twitter debate involving Vitalik Buterin and a gold bug. Task supports Vitalik's view that cryptocurrency is superior to gold, highlighting the advantages of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin over gold. He emphasizes that while gold has historically been a hedge and store of value, its utility is limited compared to the vast potential of cryptocurrencies. Additionally, Task touches on futuristic concepts like asteroid mining and unmanned underwater drones potentially impacting the supply of gold in the future.
Detailed Article:
Task delves into the debate sparked by Vitalik Buterin's contrasting views with a gold bug on Twitter, advocating for cryptocurrency's superiority over gold. He clarifies that Vitalik's stance is not just limited to Bitcoin, reflecting his belief as the Ethereum founder. Task argues that the younger generation's preference for cryptocurrencies over gold, especially as they inherit wealth from boomer parents, will likely tilt the scales in favor of cryptocurrencies in the long run. He critiques gold, stating that it is losing its allure and that Bitcoin holds advantages in terms of ease of use and transferability.
Task points out the practicality and efficiency of Bitcoin over gold, citing the cumbersome nature of handling physical gold compared to frictionless Bitcoin transactions. He also draws attention to the broader utility of cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin, such as governance tokens like Hive and Ethereum's ETH, NFTs, stable coins, and ownership stakes in decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). Task underscores that these diverse functionalities make cryptocurrencies far more versatile and valuable compared to gold, which primarily serves as a store of value.
Regarding futuristic possibilities like asteroid mining, Task is skeptical about the feasibility and implications of bringing back vast mineral resources to Earth. He discusses the potential impact of unmanned underwater drones on gold supply, highlighting how advancing technology could disrupt the scarcity and value traditionally associated with the precious metal.
Task concludes by reiterating the insignificance of gold in today's digital financial landscape, emphasizing the dominance of digital settlements in global transactions and financial systems. He asserts that the tokenization of assets and the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies will reshape the financial ecosystem, surpassing the role of gold as a traditional store of value. Task suggests that going forward, discussions should focus on comparing cryptocurrencies not just to gold but to other major asset classes like stocks and bonds to grasp their full potential and impact on the financial markets.
